Are you seeking an exciting and fulfilling opportunity? Aviva is looking for a curious and innovative Risk (Personal Lines) Investigator - Policy Investigations to join our dynamic Policy Investigations Team. You will have a crucial role in reviewing potential risks before, during and after claims, our team dedicates investigative efforts during the entirety of the policy lifecycle. This is an outstanding chance to combine your outstanding underwriting skills with established investigative protocols to identify, investigate, prevent & action policy and claim fraud.
What You’Ll Do:
As a Risk (Personal Lines) Investigator, you will successfully implement and hone your skills under the guidance of experienced mentors. Your responsibilities will include:
- Be the Case Lead for stationary policy risk based investigations with and without an open claim.
- Perform detailed investigations, establishing investigation strategies, gathering facts, managing case files, and ensuring accurate documentation and physical evidence collection.
- Conduct timely over-the-phone interviews with relevant parties, such as brokers, insureds, witnesses etc.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external collaborators, including the Business Development, Operational Underwriters, Legal, Verify, Claims Professionals and Compliance teams.
- Establish a practical scope and identify all leads for investigations, ensuring each material area is investigated thoroughly.
- Determine when an investigation is ready for disposition and build a defendable case.
- Liaise with Aviva Verify, claims, underwriting, and legal teams to evaluate evidence and determine the validity of issues in question.
- Provide ongoing technical expertise across all departments within the Aviva Group of Companies.
- Attend court as advised and prepare Aviva witnesses for court appearances.
- Make final decisions on the disposition of cases and present findings at Decision Panels.
- Manage complex investigations involving multiple parties or investigators
- Ensure investigations are timely, thorough, and compliant with legal and regulatory standards

What You’Ll Bring:
- A minimum of 3-5+ years of experience in underwriting or claims.
- Previous experience in Insurance Investigation is an asset but not required.
- Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience.
- Outstanding organizational skills, with the ability to independently manage and take accountability for all aspects of the role.
- Strong technical underwriting knowledge of personal automobile and personal property insurance.
- Working knowledge of relevant provincial legislation.
- Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Comfort with challenge and ambiguity.
- The ability to make confident and objective decisions in high-stakes situations.
- Bilingual (French/English) skills are an asset.
