The Director, Global Supplier Development, India Region Lead is a senior leader within the Global Supplier Development (GSD) organization, responsible for the performance, capability, and strategic direction of Indian. This role sets and executes the end-to-end supplier development strategy across the INDIA supply base, aligning commodity performance with Strategic Business Unit (SBU) priorities and enterprise objectives. This role ensures supply base maturity, operational resilience, and value realization across the region.
What You Will Do:
Regional Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage a regional commodity supplier development team in India’s growth market.
- Set and deploy strategy for supplier performance, risk mitigation, and capability advancement across all sites and programs
- Own and oversee Southeast Asia portfolio management including GMRE exposure, product lifecycle status, supplier performance, and spend distribution
- Drive manufacturing process standardization and execution within the supply base, ensuring alignment with technology and operational excellence goals
- Champion product knowledge maturity, value engineering, and cost improvement programs across the commodity supply base
- Implement and sustain part/part family/commodity-level risk identification, FMEA (including DFMEA), and mitigation strategies
- Deploy APQP methodology in partnership with SQ organization to all suppliers in the region with industrialization projects
Strategic Engagement And Sbu Partnership:
- Act as the Global Supplier Development sponsor for all impacted Strategic Business Units (SBU), serving as the primary interface between GSD and SBU executive leadership
- Represents the commodity team in senior level forums, ensuring supplier development priorities are aligned with BU goals and strategic initiatives (e.g., profit recovery, BCC transitions)
- Operate as a matched pair with SBU supply chain leadership to collaborate and own goals, drive aligned priorities and resolve escalations
- Provide a data driven, balanced voice of the supply base in GSS & SBU decision-making processes
- Drive SBU KPIs alignment and prioritization across commodity actions to ensure resources and initiatives are focused where most impactful
Enable Transition Project Success:
- Provide leadership and support for supplier transitions, ensuring a smooth handover of work scope with minimal disruption
- Oversee the sustainment phase by monitoring supplier maturity post-transition and ensuring long-term capability
- Ensure SBU alignment with suppliers to reinforce performance expectations and continuous improvement efforts.
- Champion APQP usage and development across the team
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a University Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 18 years of relevant experience
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time both in region and globally
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Demonstrated leadership of global teams and success in cross-functional, matrixed environments
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and risk management and Quality Process Engineering tools such as flow charts, FMEA, control plans, work instructions, measurement system validation as part of elements of APQP.
- Project Management fundamentals
- Proven track record in supplier performance improvement, value engineering, cost savings, and profit recovery
- Executive level communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing capabilities
- Ability to lead through ambiguity and drive accountability across regions and functions
- Experience in regulated or complex manufacturing industries (e.g., aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial systems)
