RN Interventional CathJob Description
Registered Nurses are responsible for the assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized patient care delivery. The Registered Nurse provides clinical leadership to the patient care team for the assigned shift. In the holding area, duties include pre-procedure preparation, patient assessment, IV initiation, medication administration, and ensuring patient readiness for procedures. In the lab, responsibilities include assisting with invasive procedures, monitoring hemodynamic status, circulating or scrubbing as needed, and responding to emergent situations. Staff collaborate closely with physicians, anesthesia, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care, including post-procedure monitoring, recovery, and discharge education. This role requires critical thinking, technical proficiency, and strong communication skills to support high-quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- Department: Cardiac Cath Lab
- Hours: Full-time, 4 10-hour shifts/week rotating between 6am-4:30pm and 8am-6:30pm with evening call.
- Required: IL RN, ADN; BLS & ACLS within 90 days of hire
- Pay: Based on experience, starting at $35.43
Responsibilities
Assessment- Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient's health or the situation. Recognizes normal and abnormal findings when gathering data. , Collaborates with the attending physician and Cardiologist and Radiologist to provide necessary radiology and cardiology procedures., Coordination of Care- Plans and evaluates care in collaboration with appropriate disciplines for assigned patients., Demonstrates clinical competence when providing patient care., Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized plans of care., Diagnosis - Analyzes assessment data to determine actual or potential diagnosis, problems, and issues., Directs and guides other healthcare workers and assumes accountability for performance of nursing activities delegated to other workers., Establishes and maintains communication with patients, families, significant others, and health teams and promotes participation with regard to the plan of care., Evaluation- Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes. Reports data and outcomes to as appropriate to physician and/or other disciplines., Implementation - Implements care and supervises care delivered by other team members in alignment with the plan of care and approved safety and infection control standards., Knowledge - In collaboration with Leader/Director, actively pursues required knowledge and skills through orientation activities specific to the unit, unit based in-service programs, reading current literature and seeking new clinical learning opportunities. , Makes decisions for care using the nursing process as a basis and takes actions that are consistent with standards for nursing practice and licensing laws., Manages an environment that promotes patient’s self esteem, dignity, safety, and comfort., Outcomes Identification - Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation., Participates in education of staff., Participates in evaluation of the patient care delivery system., Participates in research conducted at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System. , Planning - Develops a plan that prescribes strategies to attain expected, measurable outcomes., Practices within the ethical and legal framework of nursing, fostering high standards of nursing practice, and constructs a course of action when confronted with ethical dilemmas., Prepares patient for diagnostic and interventional procedures. Administers intravenous imaging contrast under the direction of the radiologists as needed., Relationships - Establishes effective working relationships with peers, physicians, and other members of the health care team. Identifies and confers with appropriate resources regarding patient care decisions., Seeks assistance when the situation encountered is beyond the nurse’s knowledge and experience., Serves as a patient advocate., Teaching - Employs teaching strategies to promote health and a safe environment.Requirements
