Job Description:
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for managing supplier relationships and executing tactical purchasing strategies in alignment with Supplier Management Procedures. The role supports EDC’s Supply Chain operations through onboarding of new suppliers, supplier performance analysis and financial reporting. Key stakeholders include operational teams, suppliers, business units, and packaging engineering teams.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Oversee the full procurement cycle from order placement to delivery, invoicing, and financial reporting
- Manage supplier onboarding and participate in the evaluation (SCAR, periodic evaluation,...) and end-to-end performance
- Forecast purchasing needs based on historical data and business plans
- Ensure all activities comply with internal and external quality, environmental, safety, and health guidelines
- Ensure compliance with supplier management procedures and maintain accurate system data
- Train internal stakeholders on purchasing policies and tools
- Validate the accuracy and integrity of financial and operational data
- Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Drive operational efficiency and cost reduction through active project participation
- Lead or support ad hoc purchasing and supplier management initiatives
- Align purchasing goals with business objectives, long term sourcing strategies and supplier development.
- Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Education & Competencies
- Bachelor degree (Supply Chain, Economics,...) or equivalent by experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in Purchasing, within a distribution environment is a strong asset
- Detailed knowledge of a major ERP system (SAP preferred)
- Excellent knowledge of office applications. Strong competencies in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of ISO13485 is a strong asset
- Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written) is necessary. French is an asset
- Open minded, out-of-the-box thinker, able to propose and implement improvements
- Analytical by nature, process oriented and capable of analyzing the existing situation and processes, following a structured approach
- Strong team player to build relationships with colleagues (both local and global) and suppliers
- Good ability to plan and prioritize own work
- Strong customer orientation
- Strong financial skills
- Strong communications skills, oral and written
- Hands-on and optimistic attitude
- Well organized, detail oriented and quality minded
- Calmness under pressure, stress resistant
Must be able to commute to Machelen.
