Join our dynamic team as a Medical Records Clerk, where you will be essential in ensuring timely responses to medical records requests. You’ll be the point of contact for external requestors and third-party vendors, providing excellent customer service while ensuring compliance with organizational policies. In this role, you’ll facilitate the smooth operation of medical record requests and help foster effective communication within the team and with external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review record requests for necessary elements and determine the appropriate response.
  • Return all phone calls, voicemails, and emails within one business day of receipt.
  • Coordinate fulfillment of requests with third-party vendors as appropriate.
  • Provide assistance to third-party vendors with policy and procedure questions.
  • Fulfill tracking of internal requests according to policy.
  • Deliver prompt and excellent customer service to team members as well as external requestors.
  • Monitor third-party vendor performance to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure timely delivery of records to the appropriate party.
  • Appear in court if requested or required.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, And/Or Credential Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint check.
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
  • All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.

Physical Requirements:

  • ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shifts.
  • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
