As a Payroll Specialist II, you'll act as an experienced payroll and service expert with an understanding of payroll practices, Canadian legislation, and customer requirements. As a subject matter expert, mentor and advisor within our HRO organization, this role is key to the support, development, and success of new associates, specifically in the areas of payroll, legislative and internal process. This experienced specialist role is directly responsible to lead internal projects, develop internal processes and training materials. A successful incumbent must have exceptional customer service skills and be able to prioritize multiple tasks and projects, while making themselves available to support both their internal and external clients.

What you’ll do: Responsibilities
- Oversees and supports the payroll and audit function for a portfolio of clients, ranging from mid to highly complex multi-product to ensure full end to end payroll functions are completed accurately and in a timely manner
- Provides ongoing subject matter expertise to Payroll Specialists on payroll, technical and legislative support
- Resolves client concerns as second level escalation support when engaged by Service Manager; investigates, determines root cause and implements solutions to ensure client satisfaction
- Reviews client’s payroll set up and processes, on an ongoing basis, to identify deficiencies within existing procedures
- Acts as a payroll mentor and technical resource to new associates throughout their onboarding and training
- Assists Service Manager and/or SSS in the coordination of initiatives and projects
- Leads, conducts and manages client conference calls and/or on-site client visits; works collaboratively with their respective team members through any resulting action items
- Works with Service Manager and SSS to identify possible growth and training opportunities within the team
- Creates job aids, tip sheets and targeted training materials to enhance the learning of our associates
- Conducts regular informational huddles to disseminate payroll and legislative updates
- Attends inter-departmental meetings as a HRO subject matter expert (SME); providing payroll and technical recommendations for ongoing projects
- Provides year end support including balancing and auditing to drive accuracy and timely target completion
- Collaborates with Implementation and Payroll Specialists during the onboarding of new clients, when engaged by Service Manager and/or SSS, to ensure a seamless and smooth transition into HRO
- Contributes to the creation and maintenance of SOPs and shares any new or revised HRO procedures with their peers
- Maintains CPA designation and attends all required departmental training sessions
TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE: Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 – 4 years client service experience
- Minimum 2 – 4 years full cycle, multi provincial payroll processing experience
- Superior knowledge of MS Office
- Extensive knowledge of ADP’s payroll software and CRM tools
- Comprehensive knowledge of year end processes, deadlines and legislative requirements
- Familiar with external interfaces, HRIS and payroll systems

- Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience
- Canadian Payroll Association (PCP) certification required
- Actively pursuing Canadian Payroll Management (CPM) certification is an asset
