SIMPEC have been awarded the main procurement and construction contract for the residue filtration stage 2 project at Alcoa's Pinjarra Alumina Refinery, which will involve delivering infrastructure and services to increase processing capacity to convert bauxite residue into filter cake.

We are currently seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support the team.

This role is DIDO daily to Pinjarra and offers 18+ months longevity.

The Role:

  • Understand the scope of works and technical requirements relating to the project works.
  • Implementing, maintaining, coordinating, and expediting the procurement and construction elements for the designated work area.
  • Identifying and resolving technical engineering issues and associated problems which may arise throughout the duration of the project.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the project team members and subcontractors.
  • Creating work packs, estimation & site variations.
  • Developing, preparing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring the specifications for all equipment that is required for each stage of the construction.
  • Completion/ co-ordination of site inspections and geotechnical / concrete testing.
  • Developing and monitoring KPIs and analysing productivity factors against program and budget.
  • Assisting with pre-pour inspections to ensure compliance with the drawings and specifications.
  • Detailed understanding of the project scope of works and ensure field variations to the scope are captured/tracked and reported on

About You:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years+ experience in a similar role in Mining Construction – involving detailed earthworks, trenching, underground services, concrete structures and foundations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of governing standards in Construction particularly Australian Standards.
  • Ability to effectively work autonomously within a collaborative team, be proactive and able to take initiative.
  • Good comprehension on planning, scheduling, construction contract management and administration
  • Experienced in managing, raising, and responding to RFI’s and TQ’s.
  • Experienced in managing and developing QMP’s, ITP’s and FIC’s/ITR’s
  • Good understanding of all stages of construction.
  • Experience in managing / coordinating subcontractors
