- 1.0 FTE (80-hours per two-week pay period)
- 8-hour day/evening shifts
- No weekends
Job Description:
Supports the orthopedic provider and coordinates all aspects of patient care to improve clinic efficiency and patient satisfaction. Schedules appointments, facilitates communication amongst the care team, organizes schedules, manages the work queue, and provides excellent customer service. Must have exemplary verbal and written communication and be proficient with computer skills.
Principle Responsibilities
- Care Coordination
- Schedules and/or reschedules patient appointments, procedures, diagnostic tests, and other related appointments between multiple providers.
- Arranges interpreter services for patients as needed.
- Reviews patient demographics and consent forms and ensures they are updated with the patient.
- Confirms information with patient when necessary and document per practice.
- Documents in electronic medical record system per provider including all scheduling and demographic documentation.
- Analyzes patient records to determine if outside documents are needed. Contacts document source, obtains records, scans and indexes into the electronic medical record.
- Coordinates care with other medical providers which will include but is not limited to physicians, physical therapists, qualified rehabilitation consultant, or athletic trainers.
- Identifies barriers and works with patient/family to resolve them. Facilitates communication between patient/family and all members of the health care team.
- Coordinates communication of medical information, plan of care, patient education and after visit summary to the patient per direction of the provider.
- Facilitates effective communication between provider, patient, family and all health team members to ensure a unified approach to the plan of care.
- Supports planning across the continuum of specialty care services and in collaboration with other care management professionals in primary care areas as the patient needs those services. Supports planning with community resources and external healthcare agencies to provide broadest available integrated network of support as needs indicate.
- Administrative Support
- Responsible for managing referral work queue.
- May create, delete and modify schedule versions and calendars to reflect changes in provider schedules.
- Delivers customer service and effective verbal and written communication including telephone encounters, routing and responding to messages accordingly.
- May track insurance verification using multiple systems.
- Organizes and maintains department records, manuals and patient education materials.
- Participates in completion of patient data reporting requirements and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assists providers with reimbursements/expense reports, physician credentialing, charge capture and medical records.
- Follows through to resolve service problems promptly and professionally with the involvement of the appropriate clinic personnel.
- Organizes, manages and completes projects/assignments in a timely basis.
- Participates in quality/performance improvement activities related to specialty care practice. As well as incorporates/integrates PI/Best Practices into specialty care practice.
- Integration of community outreach programs, including education and promotion of orthopedic urgent care services.
- May manage the patient outcome tool, including preparation and distribution.
- Verifies insurance and obtains prior authorizations as needed, may register patients.
- Facilitates MD billing process and statistical reports, including handling customer billing questions and submitting billing invoices for physician consulting, legal reviews, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
- 2+ years healthcare work experience (clinic specialist, medical receptionist, customer service, etc.)
- Experience with basic medical terminology
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate's or Vocational degree in a medical field

Pay Range
Pay Range: $22.71 to $31.13 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.Benefit Summary
