Koniag Management Solutions (KMS) is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect with extensive Splunk expertise to join our team. The Enterprise Architect will provide strategic technical leadership and oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of our Splunk environment, ensuring it aligns with our organization's broader technology ecosystem and business objectives. This role will serve as the bridge between business requirements and technical solutions, focusing on data analytics, security monitoring, and operational intelligence capabilities through Splunk technologies.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing enterprise-wide architecture solutions while ensuring alignment with the organization's technology roadmap and business goals. Principal responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide architecture solutions
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive technical architecture strategy and roadmap
• Evaluate business requirements and translate them into effective architectural solutions
• Design and implement scalable, high-performance deployment architectures including clustering, high availability, and disaster recovery
• Create architectural artifacts including diagrams, documentation, and guidelines for implementations
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to administrators and developers
• Establish best practices and standards for data ingestion, indexing, searching, and reporting in Splunk
• Collaborate with security, operations, and development teams to ensure the SIEM meets cross-functional requirements
• Optimize data collection, storage, and search performance across the environment
• Stay current with product developments, industry trends, and emerging technologies
• Provide architectural oversight for integration between the SIEM and other enterprise systems and data sources
• Lead technical evaluation of apps, add-ons, and premium solutions for potential adoption
• Conduct regular architecture reviews and recommend improvements to existing implementations
Education and Experience:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
• 10+ years of experience in IT architecture, systems engineering, or related technical roles
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Splunk Enterprise architecture and implementation
• Splunk Architect or Splunk Enterprise Security Certified Admin certification
• Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale Splunk deployments across multiple environments
Required Skills and Competencies:
• Deep understanding of Splunk Enterprise architecture components including forwarders, indexers, search heads, and deployment servers
• Expertise in designing distributed Splunk environments, including clustering, high availability, and disaster recovery
• Strong knowledge of Splunk data ingestion methods, indexing techniques, and search performance optimization
• Experience with Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) and/or Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI)
• Proficiency in Splunk's Search Processing Language (SPL) and advanced searching capabilities
• Strong understanding of enterprise security architecture and SIEM implementation best practices
• Experience integrating Splunk with various data sources and technologies
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and deploying Splunk in cloud environments
• Strong understanding of data modeling, normalization, and common information models
• Experience with Splunk app development and customization
• Excellent communication skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Strong leadership abilities with experience guiding technical teams and driving architectural decisions
• Experience with IT governance frameworks (ITIL, COBIT, etc.) and architectural methodologies
• Ability to obtain security clearance if required
Desired Skills and Competencies:
• Splunk Enterprise Security Certified Architect certification
• Experience with Splunk Phantom or other SOAR platforms
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques and implementation in Splunk
• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD methodologies
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with Splunk Observability Cloud (formerly SignalFx)
• Familiarity with other major SIEM platforms for comparison and integration
• Background in cybersecurity operations and threat intelligence
• Experience with federal government or Department of Defense environments
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks (NIST, FedRAMP, HIPAA, PCI DSS, etc.)
• Experience with data privacy regulations and implementation
• Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2)
• TOGAF, Zachman, or other enterprise architecture framework certification
