Provide a high level of Construction Risk Engineering support for Chubb Insurance operations in Australia and globally when required.
Identify key risks and exposures associated with the full range of Construction related insurance policy coverages.
Develop and deliver reports, risk evaluations and other services to both internal and external customers in a professional manner that is appropriate for the level of risk. The overall objective is to assist with attracting and retaining profitable business whilst also identifying major risk issues with the potential to result in business becoming unprofitable.
Complete risk evaluations within agreed timeframes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake risk engineering activities in accordance with Chubb Underwriting and Risk Engineering Services guidelines.
- Conduct property risk evaluations of construction, occupancy, protection, management controls, maintenance and business interruption exposures from insured perils including fire, water damage, natural perils, equipment breakdown, and other insured perils via:
- Review of information provided by third parties;
- Information collected via internet research, from phone / video calls / site meetings with insurance brokers, clients or other third parties; or
- Physical site inspections.
- Provide general technical support to assist Chubb underwriting staff and junior Construction Engineering staff.
- Review risk engineering requests for support to ensure that the required scope of evaluation and response is understood and a response provided accordingly.
- Provide account management where required, including scheduling and monitoring of risk engineering site surveys, quality assurance, and development of relationships with customers.
- Remain abreast of current loss prevention and risk engineering best practices, including identifying emerging risks and market trends.
- Work in conjunction with others and/ or lead special projects to improve process efficiency, develop new business opportunities or risk engineering products.
- Provide technical support in a specialised area of expertise as designated for the benefit of Chubb and our insureds.
- Market Chubb Risk Engineering Services by conducting presentations on capabilities and services.
- Liaise with risk engineering management regarding new initiatives and identified business process improvements.

- Champion risk culture values and being a strong advocate for good customer outcomes in all business activities. Promote continuous improvement to Chubb’s products and services having regard to product assessments, IT solution and business efficiencies.
- Be aware of and appropriately mange conduct risk within your area
- Understand your role and take ownership of risks and controls as a first line risk owner
- Effectively manage third party arrangements you/your function is responsible for, ensuring effective oversight and monitoring is in place and steps are taken promptly where issues are identified.
- Appropriate action taken for employee conduct that is outside of that contemplated in the risk culture goal and Code of Conduct
- Promptly report incidents and ensure functional area does the same. Handle any complaints fairly and promptly in accordance with Chubb policy
- Participate in quarterly compliance attestation process and provision of accurate information for Board and Committee reporting
- Compliance with Code of Conduct, internal policies, regulations
Essential:
- Engineering or physical science degree or diploma with at least 5 years post-degree work experience, preferably involving risk management, facility maintenance, EH&S management, fire engineering, building construction compliance, or other engineering roles at industrial operations.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse a technical issue, summarise any findings and identify any corrective action required
- Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and spoken English language skills are essential.
- Good technical report writing skills. The ability to write clearly and concisely is essential.
- A willingness to travel to service client locations throughout Australia and Asia Pacific, and further afield if required.
Desirable:
More than five years insurance industry experience in risk engineering / loss adjusting services.
