OT Network & Security Architect

We are seeking an experienced and driven OT Security & Network Architect to help our clients secure and optimize their industrial network environments. What will you be doing

As an OT Security & Network Architect at spotit, you will design, implement, and improve secure operational technology (OT) network infrastructures. Your work will ensure resilience and security in critical industrial processes. You will:

• Analyze and design robust OT security solutions tailored to client environments.
• Collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to assess and mitigate risks.
• Bridge the gap between IT, OT, and management for secure and compliant operations.
• Lead projects from concept to implementation with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
• Stay ahead of trends and emerging threats in OT security.
• Conduct OT security assessments and clearly communicate findings.
• Support pre-sales activities, technical workshops, and demonstrations.
• Assist operational teams during incidents with guidance and expertise.

A day in the life of an OT Network & Security Architect

Imagine starting your day reviewing the latest industrial threat intelligence while enjoying coffee in the spotit office. You hop into a workshop with an energy sector client to design a secure network segmentation strategy for their smart grid infrastructure.

The afternoon finds you analyzing the OT network and security risks for a manufacturing facility and creating a roadmap for the IT and OT team to build a more resilient infrastructure.

You finish the day preparing a proposal for a new IIoT security project, knowing your work safeguards not only data, but critical infrastructure powering communities.

Your Profile

• Experience: 5+ years in network and security architecture, ideally within OT environments.
• Industry knowledge: exposure to at least one of these verticals is a plus:
• Energy (smart grids, substations)
• Port & logistics (Straddle carriers, WMS/TPM systems, TOS)
• Manufacturing (PLC/SCADA/MES integration, IIoT)
• Chemical/Pharma (GxP, validation)

Technical skills:

• Industrial network architecture (Layer 2/3, VLANs, segmentation, routing, redundancy topologies).
• Integration of firewalls with IDS/IPS for OT environments.
• Expertise with NGFW (Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Cisco, Check Point).
• Zone-based firewalling (Purdue model, IEC62443).
• OT protocols: Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, Profinet, EtherNet/IP.
• Network sniffing tools: Wireshark/tcpdump, WinDump.
• Securing IIoT and hybrid cloud-edge environments.

OT/ICS Knowledge:

• SCADA, PLCs, RTUs, HMIs.
• Asset discovery, baselining, anomaly detection.
• Segmentation for OT/ICS (Firewall, ACLs, pVLAN, Security Group Tagging).
• Air-gapped networks and legacy systems.

Soft skills:

• Strong presentation and stakeholder management skills.
• Solution-oriented, pragmatic, hands-on mindset.
• Experience leading migrations, segmentation projects, incident response, compliance audits.
• Languages: fluent in Dutch and English.
• Mobility: willing to work on-site in Belgium and internationally.
• Certifications (nice to have): ISA/IEC 62443 series, CISSP, CCSP, CCIE Security, GICSP, CompTIA Security+, Network+.
