DATABASE OPERATIONS ENGINEER

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide daily database related support for our application development teams.
• Design and maintain data infrastructure and related tooling in collaboration with our data engineering teams.
• Manage and maintain complex database systems, including configuration, upgrades, monitoring, replication, and storage allocation.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices.
• Investigate and resolve incidents by troubleshooting and debugging issues across the stack.
• Drive infrastructure improvements by evaluating new tools, designing solutions, and executing migrations.
• Implement and maintain observability tools to monitor database health.
• Ensure data integrity through regular backups, recovery tests, and comprehensive documentation.
• Optimize database performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks in production and development environments.
• Uphold security standards by ensuring all data infrastructure is compliant with company security guidelines.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, including the ability to write and debug complex queries.
• Experience in database performance tuning and optimization.
• Familiarity with Linux server administration.
• Experience with managed cloud platforms, specifically GCP.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation tools like Ansible and Terraform/Terragrunt.
• Experience with supporting a variety of self-hosted and managed databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Clickhouse, and MongoDB.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
• Experience with container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (e.g., DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing).
• A strong grasp of security best practices in a cloud environment.
• High sense of responsibility and experience working with critical production systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• A proactive mindset with a drive to constantly learn and improve tools and processes.

Fluent English.

• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Argo Workflows).
• Familiarity with monitoring solutions such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Experience with ETL tools (Apache NiFi, Airflow).
• Experience supporting event streaming platforms like Kafka.
