Job Description Summary
As a Lead Combustion Aero Thermal Engineer, you will apply fundamental design principles to ensure robust Gas Turbine Combustion system and bring reliable power to the people with lower emissions. In this role you will execute new Combustor development and Services projects, apply creativity to solve the problem and deliver the results on time in collaboration with team.You will interact with world’s best minds to advance cutting edge Combustion technology and work towards net zero emission energy production.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Applying combustion/ gas turbine fundamentals, design, develop F & HA Class gas turbine combustion system with low emissions and wide operation window.
- Independently execute the Combustion Aero Operability project using sound engineering principles and by adhering to the business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
- Owns and solves customer combustion operability issues and RCAs with proactive approach working independently/with team.
- Ownership mindset and self-driven approach to understand fleet history, resolves problems with fielded units related to combustion operability to optimize operation of the unit for hardware durability and customer requirements.
- Lead field testing remotely or at customer sites around the world as well as prototype lab test, through test planning activities for efficient and thorough collection of necessary combustion emission and dynamics data for full characterization of operability window.
- Conduct predictive dynamics modeling using 1D and 3D tools incorporating flow network, dynamics and acoustics elements in order to provide design direction on combustion dynamics performance
- Think beyond existing technical solution, evaluate technical options and own the accountability of the selected path forward.
- Proactively collaborate with cross functional teams – accessories, controls, system etc. for system level optimum solution.
- Proactively identify and drive continuous improvement of processes and data analysis techniques
- Collaborate with Technical Leader, controlled title holders/Chief Engineer offices and ensure review rigor and attention to detail.
- As an organizational citizen help build a safe, inspirational, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's/Master’s/PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering with specialization in combustion & thermodynamics engineering.
- At least 4+ years of experience in the field of gas turbine Combustion Design - Aero operability, Aero Thermal.
Desired Characteristics
- Understanding of GE Power product line and its Combustion system.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership skills and ability to work well in a team environment with a positive “can do” attitude.
- Strong understanding of combustion, emissions, acoustics and gas turbine technology.
- Experience in field commissioning and troubleshooting of combustion operability as well as executing combustion lab test. Willingness to travel at short notice.
- Self-starter and ability to handle multiple projects.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with digital analytics techniques to enhance combustion operability window.
