Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the entire financial function for JAPAC, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, tax compliance, payroll, and treasury.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies and plans that support regional business goals while aligning with global corporate policies and standards.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making by senior management and regional business leaders.
  • Ensure compliance with all local tax laws, financial regulations, and reporting standards specific to Japan and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for the region.
  • Manage cash flow, capital expenditures, and investment planning to optimize financial efficiency and meet regional growth objectives.
  • Partner with corporate finance, risk, legal, and operations teams to support business expansion, mergers, acquisitions, and partnership opportunities.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing regional finance team; drive continuous improvement in financial processes and controls.
  • Maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, government agencies, and external stakeholders within the JAPAC region.
  • Collaborate with the global finance team to ensure integrated financial operations and reporting transparency.
  • Monitor market and economic trends affecting the region and assess financial risk and opportunities.
  • Support internal and external audit coordination and implementation of audit recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or CMA are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including regional or multinational exposure within JAPAC is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of JAPAC financial regulations, tax laws, accounting standards (such as IFRS or local GAAP), and compliance requirements.
  • Proven track record in financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and operational finance.
  • Experience managing cross-cultural finance teams and navigating complex multi-country financial environments.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Japanese or other regional languages is a significant advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior executives and multinational teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with financial systems implementation and process automation.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Capability to influence and drive results in matrixed organizational structures.
