The Opportunity:
This post is guaranteed hours and fixed term until 31st August 2029.
The guaranteed hours periods are: 1st November 2025- 31st August 2026, 1st September 2026-31st August 2027,1st September 2027- 31st August 2028, and 1st September 2028- 31st August 2029.
We anticipate a minimum of 200 hours each period. This will be confirmed yearly in writing.
For the period 1st November 2025 to 31st August 2026 this post is guaranteed 200 hours.
You will play a key role in supporting, as Project Administrator, the research project Class Struggle in Ancient Greek Democracy, a major ERC Consolidator Grant funded through the guarantee and held in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology. The project involves a rich programme of academic and public activities, including conferences, workshops, and events, as well as maintaining an up-to-date website to showcase project progress and outcomes.
In this part-time role, you will assist the Principal Investigator (Professor Mirko Canevaro) and his team with the smooth running of the project, helping to organise events, co-ordinate communications, and ensure the project’s online presence is current and engaging. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-profile international research project while developing your skills in project administration, event organisation, website management and academic communication.
The annual salary is at Grade UE05: £29,588 - £33,951 (based on full-time employment). The successful candidate will be appointed on Step 1, £16.21 per hour, plus annual leave allowance.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Experience of having attended an academic conference
- Experience of working with a range of academic and non- academic stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly, orally and in writing and through email.
- Good IT skills and knowledge of MS Office packages, especially Outlook, SharePoint/One Drive, Word, Excel, as well as Adobe Indesign.
- Good website skills: ability to add, edit and maintain website pages.
