The Simulation Coordinator Will:

Under the direction of the Program Director/Administrator of Nursing and Dean of Instruction,

Manage the development, scheduling, delivery, and evaluation of nursing and allied health simulations. This role serves as the primary contact for faculty using simulation, oversees simulation operations, maintains simulation equipment and supplies, and ensures compliance with accreditation and safety standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and professional simulation environment.
  • Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of current procedures in the Nursing field.
  • Provide 5-8 instructional contact hours per week in the classroom, lab and/or clinical.

Simulation Planning and Delivery

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate simulation-based educational activities that meet curriculum objectives and end of student learning program outcomes.
  • Schedule simulations, pre-briefs, and debriefs for nursing and allied health programs.
  • Create realistic scenarios using high-fidelity simulators, manikins, standardized patients, props, and equipment.
  • Support faculty in integrating simulation into courses, including training on simulation technology.
  • Stay current with simulation research, techniques, and best practices.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate simulation-based educational activities that meet curriculum objectives and end of student learning program outcomes.

Lab Operations and Maintenance

  • Maintain a safe, professional, and organized simulation environment.
  • Oversee daily simulation operations, including student performance tracking and interdepartmental tours/demonstrations.
  • Monitor and maintain simulation equipment, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs.
  • Manage inventory, order supplies, and ensure safe handling and disposal of materials.
  • Prepare and manage the simulation lab budget.

Collaboration And Compliance

  • Work with faculty and administrators to develop curriculum supported by simulation.
  • Advise and support faculty in scenario design and simulation-based teaching strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with state board, accreditation, and institutional policies.
  • Contribute to reports and documentation required for regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Fulfill Administrative Duties.

  • Meet requirements for creation, distribution, and retention and/or submission of beginning- and end-of-term paperwork.
  • Maintain Administrative hours as determined by the Program Director and Dean.
  • Adhere to, uphold, and comply with all established operational policies and procedures as described in operating documentation (Official Catalog, Faculty Guide, Associate Guide, The Nursing Handbook).
  • Participate in curriculum monitoring and development process by providing feedback on curriculum to the Program Director and/or System-level curriculum team.
  • Provide input to Program Director regarding equipment and supplies needed for nursing lab and simulation.
  • Participate in preparation for, and ongoing maintenance of records required for national program accreditation.
  • Serve as resource/advisor/mentor for nursing students.
  • Attend required College functions including graduation and special activities.
  • Participate in campus-wide initiatives in support of recruitment, retention, and graduation goal attainment including, but not limited to, monitoring, adjusting (when needed), and assessing classroom and program retention/graduation, and meeting with program advisors on a regular basis to discuss student performance and academic concerns.
  • Participate in department committee meetings.
  • Attending advisory committee meetings.

Job Functions

  •  Works to manage and administer the Nursing Simulation Laboratory by:
  •  Establishing and updating policies and standard practices related to the use of simulation technology.
  •  Developing, presenting, evaluating and refining scenarios utilized for simulation experience utilizing role-playing, props and dialogue to create a realistic learning environment
  •  Developing new simulation experiences based on student or faculty identified needs and serving as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation is classroom/lab activities.
  •  Maintains the simulation inventory system by:
  •  Ensuring the completion of an annual inventory of the Nursing Simulation Laboratory.
  •  Preparing tenders and ordering supplies as needed into the Nursing simulation Laboratory inventory.
  • Ensuring the safe storage of hazardous materials and overseeing the collection and disposal of waste materials according to regulations.
  •  Establishing and updating policies and standard practices related to the use of simulation technology.
  •  Developing, presenting, evaluating and refining scenarios utilized for simulation experience utilizing role-playing, props and dialogue to create a realistic learning environment
  •  Developing new simulation experiences based on student or faculty identified needs and serving as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation is classroom/lab activities.
  •  Ensuring the completion of an annual inventory of the Nursing Simulation Laboratory.
  •  Preparing tenders and ordering supplies as needed into the Nursing simulation Laboratory inventory.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN), preferably with post graduate training/certification and experience in all aspects of simulation – including planning, evaluation and debriefing.
  • Valid New York State Nursing License.
  • Valid American Heart Association BLS CPR certification.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Trained in patient simulation services, technologies and applications; computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to simulator functions.
  • Ability to assess, troubleshoot and fix equipment failure in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to work with internal and external individuals from different disciplines and different levels of training.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic environment.
  • Work requires occasional heavy physical lifting of equipment and management/utilization of advanced medical devices.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Team player with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.

Salary:

$85,000-$93,000
