Senior Backend Developer

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our team working on one of the key projects in the Bitcoin and FinTech industry.

Rootstock (RSK) is an open-source, decentralized, peer-to-peer network that brings smart contracts to the Bitcoin ecosystem. It provides the possibility of running Ethereum smart contracts on Bitcoin, using Bitcoin as its native cryptocurrency, and leveraging Bitcoin's hashing power.

As part of the RSK Core team, you will evolve and maintain the Rootstock platform reference client implementation, review and promote community contributions, and play a key role in the platform’s continuous development. You will collaborate with an internationally diverse team to make Rootstock more secure, scalable, and user-friendly, while also learning and contributing to advancements in blockchain and crypto.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to implement new features, improvements, and fixes to the Rootstock reference client.
• Ensure Rootstock is secure and robust, capable of executing a high volume of transactions without disruption.
• Implement new features expanding our network, ensuring that we remain compatible with the EVM
• Improve the user experience of Rootstock technologies, making it easy for developers and users to build on top of the platform.
• Participate in design and code reviews, ensuring best engineering practices are followed.
• You will help to document new features, provide support and help for the builders and contributors from Rootstock
• Contribute to one of the most exciting open-source projects in the blockchain industry.
• Engage with an international community of contributors and stakeholders.

What You Bring

• Advanced knowledge of object-oriented programming, particularly Java.
• Thrives in collaboration with your teammates, efficiently communicating with your team using the communications tools
• Proven experience working on technologically challenging and complex projects.
• Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate fluently in English; Spanish is a strong plus.
• Knowledge and experience with Web3 (experience with protocol development it's a plus)
• Knowledge of Bitcoin or Ethereum is an advantage.
• High regard for security in software development.
