About The Role
The objective of this position is to deliver Microbiological projects received from Kenvue Global R&D sites for product categories under various franchises such as Self Care (OTC drugs), Skin Health and Essential Health (Baby care, Oral Care, etc.) etc.
The Senior Scientist position will be a part of the team that is responsible for microbiological deliverables of new product development projects, support changes to commercial products and specific research-based activities assigned as a part of R&D Microbiology operations. The delivery of the projects is expected to meet applicable compliance and quality requirements and established performance metrics.
Job Responsibilities
MICROBIOLOGICAL PROJECT DELIVERY AND TECHNICAL ASSESSMENTS:
- Deliver project milestones and execute of Microbiological deliverables and documentation in compliance with requirements from internal policies and applicable regulations. Responsible for Microbiology testing activities, data review and document authorship based on project requirements.
- Apply the fundamentals and basics of ICH Stability studies (Matrixing and bracketing), test method suitability and method transfer to drive business solutions and bring products to market faster.
- Independently drive technical decisions such as Microbiology robustness for products, risk assessments, innovative methods and processes.
- Attend and/or facilitate project and technical meetings.
- Independently manage microbiological projects inclusive of planning, execution, communication with regional/global teams and presentations to stakeholders.
- Provide Microbiological expertise for Investigations and product related issues as required.
Support To Equipment Management Program:
- Own assigned new equipment qualification and ensure calibration activities for lab instrumentation and technology.
Technical Documentation
- Responsible to author, and or review technical documents for all the Microbiology activities e.g. stability reports, method transfer, method validation protocol and reports, etc., in compliance with standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
Lab Process/Quality Systems Management:
- Represent as process owners or subject matter experts for assigned responsibilities, critical laboratory processes and quality systems.
- Participate in internal or regulatory audits as subject matter experts for assigned responsibilities
- Well qualified on wide range of microbiological technologies and instrumentation.
- Coordinate with external labs for outsourcing operations and research projects, if required.
Engagement On Regional/Global Initiatives:
- Participate and collaborate with regional and Global teams for assigned deliverables when nominated on such forums.
Technical Competencies And Leadership Competencies
- Deep technical expertise related to Microbiology, Microbiological techniques, stability study assessment and research technologies
- Technical skills related to interpretation and review of microbiological data, application of digital tools to area of work, resolution of laboratory investigations and nonconformances through effective technical writing skills.
- Broad knowledge and experience with regulatory requirements including ICH, FDA, and compendia (e.g. USP, JP, EP, etc.) is highly preferred.
- Effective planning and execution of microbiological projects independently with a right first-time approach.
- Experience working with LIMS systems and other documentation systems is preferred.
- Adequate knowledge of current GMP, quality systems, SOPs, latest regulatory trends, and global regulations as appropriate
- Previous experience in working with Formulations, Quality and New Product Development teams is preferred
- Ability to independently execute assigned work including technical troubleshooting acumen.
- Excellent oral and written communication and articulation skills
- Flexible mindset adaptable to changing needs of business and organizational ways of working
- Displays technical curiosity and self-initiative to deliver beyond usual activities
- Good interpersonal skills to partner across functions, sites, and regions
- Education: Minimum MSc in Microbiology Sciences
- Other Skills: MS office advanced, Digital tools for labs
- Previous experience in working with Formulations, Quality and New Product Development teams is preferred
- Ability to independently execute assigned work including technical troubleshooting acumen.

Education/Work Experience Requirements:
- Work experience: Minimum 7 years to 9 years in R&D Microbiology, Quality Control or related functions in healthcare/pharma/FMCG sector with exposure to GMP and Quality environment preferred
