The Oncology Private Business Manager is a high-impact role, critical to shaping Pfizer’s private healthcare strategy in the UK. You will be responsible for developing and executing a targeted engagement plan to position Pfizer Oncology as the partner of choice for private sector providers and insurers. This role reflects our strategic pivot toward cultivating deeper, more targeted relationships with key stakeholders in the private channel.

This National, Customer-Facing role (~60% customer-facing) has promotional and non-promotional responsibilities. You will take ownership of building and expanding strategic partnerships with UK private healthcare providers and insurers, ensuring Pfizer’s invest-to-win brands—Ibrance, Lorviqua and Elrexfio—lead their respective categories in the private sector.

You will also play a key role in aligning cross-functional teams across Pfizer Oncology, leveraging the expertise of Access & Assets, IIS (BAI), Regulatory, PGS, Medical, and Commercial platform colleagues at both local and global levels. Your ability to drive collaboration, harness organisational resources, and navigate complex healthcare ecosystems will be essential in advancing Pfizer Oncology’s position within the private channel.

This role provides a unique opportunity to influence private oncology partnerships in the UK and shape the future of cancer care for patients in this priority segment.

Role Responsibilities

External Hcp Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships at the national level with key healthcare providers, private hospitals, and insurers to secure influence across the channel. Organise educational and training sessions on Pfizer’s oncology portfolio as required using Oncology CFCs to deliver these
  • Conduct, thorough stakeholder mapping to identify key clinicians, pharmacists, and decision-makers in private hospitals, understanding their needs, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Pfizer Oncology, representing the company at key external customer-facing events.
  • Support and liaise with relevant private market CFCs & Commercial managers to: 1) Support HCP access at local hospital level 2) Utilise SME in HCP interactions when required

Internal Stakeholder Management

  • Share best practice examples and key insights with internal stakeholders to optimise Pfizer Oncology’s overall strategy in the private market whilst supporting a One Pfizer approach
  • Quickly build an internal network, ensuring Pfizer Oncology can realize its ambition of becoming a leader in the private market.
  • Upskill internal colleagues on the private market as required

Market Activation and Commercial Leadership

  • Develop strategies for market activation, focusing on opportunity sizing and developing segmentation.
  • Coordinate efforts to ensure effective market entry and expansion in the private sector.
  • Work closely with HO commercial and medical teams by sharing key insights to develop tools and resources to meet external environment and customer needs to drive growth across the channel • Develop and execute sales strategies, including collaboration with Commercial platform colleagues to develop pricing strategies tailored to both Private Provider Hospitals and private wings within NHS hospitals.
  • Monitor performance and adjust strategies to ensure optimal market penetration and growth
  • Analyse data to generate insights and inform strategic decisions.
  • Research hospital and hospital chain annual reports to understand market dynamics and uncover new opportunities.

Compliance

  • Work in accordance with all relevant Pfizer SOPs, ABPI Code and MHRA Blue Book.
  • Drive and champion adherence to industry standards across internal teams and partners, ensuring Pfizer Oncology maintains a leadership position in the private sector.
  • Coordinate with Medical, Commercial Customer & Strategy teams and other subject matter experts to appropriately meet external customer needs.

Non-Promotional Activities:

Position Pfizer as the Private market partner of choice in service innovation to enhance the patient experience through delivery of Business Skills workshops and similar educational initiatives.

Co-create and deliver collaborative programs with aligned healthcare private organisations

Respond to service support requirements and pathway development in the private market using available internal resource

Deliver Advance Budgetary Notifications (ABNs) as and when required

Skills, Qualifications And Experience

  • Graduate or Graduate equivalent, with ABPI Medical Representative exam• Commercially astute with proven experience with performance tracking and financial management
  • Exceptional strategic thinking capability with the ability to make complex trade off decisions to drive business forward• Strong cross-functional working skills with a proven track record of coordinating and collaborating across multiple teams within and outside of Oncology• Negotiation skills and commercialisation experience within the pharmaceutical/medical industry• Strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent communication and presentation skills.• Outstanding relationship-building skill allied to strong project management leads• Well organised with ability to be flexible, prioritise multiple demands and effectively perform under tight timelines.• Experience and knowledge of the Legal/Medical/Regulatory review process
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Oncology therapy area expertise and experience promoting Oncology medicines to the NHS & / or the Private sector
  • Understanding of the UK private market landscape with existing relationships with key providers
  • Knowledge of the needs and expectations of national and regional providers, insurers and commercial customers
  • Commercial and marketing experience working within UK

Resources Managed

Responsible to manage a significant amount of DME to generate strong growth for highly complex priority brands with potential to exceed £20M revenues in the short/medium term.

  • SUPERVISION
  • No direct or limited supervisory responsibility, but must be able to direct work through matrix leadership and have the influence and credibility to oversee the output of matrix teams that they lead.
