Job Summary:The Program Director oversees the overall operation of the Amity Vista Ranch campus and monitors the daily management of the community. Directly supervises the Casework Supervisor, Caseworkers and other non-support positions. Essential Duties:·        Ultimate responsibility for the supervision of all program staff positions. If necessary, substitute for, and adequately perform all duties of any other paid staff.·        Oversee the implementation and provision of all contractual program components, services, and activities.·        Ensure compliance with CDCR’s (California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation) administrative and fiscal regulations in accordance with the Agreement provisions.·        Ensure operational costs do not exceed the funding generated by the program per diem rate.·        Possess the interpersonal skills that allow effective interaction with varied staff and participant groups.·        Responsible ensuring compliance with the CDCR’s administrative and fiscal regulations in accordance with contract provisions.·        Be responsible for logistics related to food, program equipment and compliance with the contract.·        Development of quality control procedures to ensure high quality service.·        Assist in resolving programmatic and personnel problems.·        Conduct staff meetings with all employees to discuss personnel and program issues and assign other duties as needed.·        Monitor the advocacy (casework) process.·        Assist in the planning, formulation, and supervision of program goals and objectives, project budget, project techniques and methods, faculty selection, training, and development, monitoring project effectiveness.·        Supervise preparation and submission of all required reporting.·        Ensure project compliance with Amity policies and procedures, relevant to federal and state regulations and contract obligations.·        Attend and participate in Amity community building functions.·        Responsible the daily management and quality of care and services afforded to project students is in keeping with contemporary therapeutic community methodologies and "best practice" standards.·        Oversees the capabilities of the project; ensure that accommodations will be made to meet individual and/or special needs of project students.·        Attend workshops, meetings, and trainings as requested by supervisor.·        May serve as Community Advocate role in addition to job as requested by community leadership.         ·        Performs other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience: ·        Required: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or related fields, AND one (1) year of experience working with a criminal justice population; OR ·        Required: A minimum of 60 college units and four years of staff supervisory experience working with a criminal justice or related population OR·        Required: High School diploma AND six (6) cumulative years of full-time staff supervisory experience with a criminal justice population or related population.·        Preferred: Experience working with criminal justice populations. Certifications or Licenses: ·        Required: Within six (6) weeks of hire, obtain First Aid and CPR certification AND pass a physical examination and tuberculosis test from a health professional.·        Preferred: A State accredited Substance Abuse Disorder Treatment (SUDT) certification or equivalent AOD counselor licenses. Skills/Abilities: ·        Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills.·        Ability to maintain confidential information.·        Ability to operate general office equipment.·        Demonstrates an understanding of human emotions with a high level of empathy.·        Ability to exercise an amount of empathy and understands the importance of role-reversal.·        Demonstrates skill in patience, active listening, and interest in diverse life stories.  ·        Good verbal and written communication skills with a genuine enthusiasm for helping people.·        Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectively under pressure generated by association with substance abuse students.·        Demonstrates proper attitudes and techniques and techniques to residential students ADA Information: Physical Requirements:  ·        Faculty must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.·        Frequently required to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.·        Frequently sitting and typing for extended periods of time. ·        Occasionally required to reach, walk, climb, pull, push, grasp, stretch, stoop. ·        Frequently required talk, hear, see, and use repetitive motions. ·        Frequently able to communicate verbally and in written form.·        Frequently able to use all types of vision, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, to complete daily tasks·        Required to wear comfortable and office appropriate clothes.  Mental Demands: ·        Ability to change direction as priorities shift. ·        Ability to thrive in an environment that requires one to adapt to changing circumstances. ·        Ability to professionally work under pressure with difficult or temperamental students & faculty. ·        Ability to handle mental and emotional stress related to the position. Work Conditions: ·        Generally, in an indoor office setting.  Environmental Conditions:·        The noise level in the work environment is moderate but can be loud.·        The temperature in the work environment is usually moderate to cool but can be cold or hot. Travel:·        May travel locally as needed. Note: This job description is intended to describe the general nature and work responsibilities of the position.
