Position Overview

The Senior Business Analyst reports to the Director of Enterprise Applications and is a critical bridge between business needs and Workday’s capabilities. This role requires a strong understanding of business operations, Workday functionality, and the ability to design, optimize, and implement processes within the system.  The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of ancillary applications and secondary support of the College's Enterprise Applications. A successful candidate should be able to manage and implement a range of deliverables in a timely fashion with strong attention to details and execution.

This role is full-time, and will be required to be on campus a minimum of 3 days a week with the opportunity to work remotely up to 2 days a week, as agreed upon with the Reporting Manager.

Key Responsibilities

60% of Time: Workday ERP and SIS Support

  • Oversee Workday-related projects and enhancements.
  • Design and modify Workday reports, to support the needs of users at the college.
  • Create and maintain calculated fields and conditional rules for automated workflows.
  • Create, train users and maintain EIBs for efficient data loads.
  • Train end users and stakeholders on new Workday functionality, including hands-on sessions and documentation development.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to analyze, document, and implement business process updates within Workday.
  • Troubleshoot system problems, determine root cause, and implement solutions.
  • Design, configure, and test integrations between Workday and external systems using Enterprise Integration Builder (EIB) and other Workday tools
  • Monitor and assess integration failures, assessing reasons and partnering with functional users on solutions.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for requirements gathering, business processes, integrations, procedures, and system configuration by the team.
  • Understand Workday security including adjusting domains and security groups.
  • Migrate configuration data and objects between Workday tenants using tools like Object Transporter. 
  • Mentor and support less experienced technical staff with Workday related tools and technologies.

  • 40% of Time: Project Management

  • Engage with internal stakeholders to determine a strategy and vision for software applications, including business needs and requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and users, building strong relationships and becoming a trusted partner and subject matter expert.
  • Collect, analyze, and translate business requirements into user stories, workflows, business process logic, process maps, wireframes, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements.
  • Monitor deliverables and ensure timely completion of projects through developing project plans and monitoring performance.
  • Configure, test and deploy requested and required changes in coordination with functional offices and Technology support.
  • Participate in system planning and testing including user acceptance testing and system integration testing.
  • Creates and maintains business relationships with respective stakeholders on campus, and supports their work and functional needs with relevant expertise.
  • Partner with Programmer Analysts to build integrations between Workday and other systems.
  • Provide guidance and consult with the College's information security staff on best practices for the team's projects.

Community Engagement

  • Be an active participant in the life of the College by attending and supporting key events like Commencement, Homecoming, and other all-hands-on-deck gatherings. Show a spirit of collaboration and community involvement, including volunteering when possible.

Qualifications And Skills

 
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • 2+ years experience with Workday, including business processes, integrations, configuration, security, and reporting required
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and other data manipulation tools.
  • Experience with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Project, and LucidChart.
  • Strong communication and writing skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and meet negotiated timelines with high quality deliverables.
  • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills.

  • Workday Experience Required.

  • Experience in higher education field preferred.
