Salary Range: $68,739 - $89,361
Position Summary Description:
The Category Manager I is highly proficient within their category and assists with the execution of the strategy for their category for the enterprise. The Category Manager I is responsible for managing their category product assortment, focusing on Exclusive Brand (EB) penetration and conversions, building and maintaining close relationships with our Vendors, and supporting our Sales Team with actionable recommendations for their Customers. The Category Manager I is accountable for closely monitoring category performance and is able to carry out all essential duties with the assistance and guidance from the Senior Category Manager.
Essential Duties:
• Manages the category strategy and consistently monitors performance to ensure objectives are met. Assists with the execution of short- and long-term category objectives aimed at driving the category to meet business growth targets.
• Monitors and analyzes category performance on a branch level. Based on analysis, works with leadership to adjust category activities to help increase sales and vendor income to ensure there is alignment on the strategy.
• Supports the execution to drive Exclusive Brand (EB) penetration across the category by ensuring EB products are primary considerations in the development and implementation of category strategy. Identifies gaps in EB portfolio within the category.
• Establishes, maintains, and grows relationships with new and existing suppliers and assists with negotiation efforts.
• Supports activities such as identifying market, new product and category growth opportunities, and gathering relevant information to support recommendations to leadership.
• Continuous monitoring of category performance including volume commitments, fulfillment, promotional allowances, supplier service level, and the overall financial performance of the category.
• Supports the execution of the category product assortment to help determine core SKU's, review new vendor items, and reduce product duplication through SKU Rationalization efforts.
• Collaborates with Sales and Purchasing to execute category level pricing strategies and implementing changes timely to maximize performance.
• Identifies vendor deviation and program opportunities that align to the category strategy.
• Performs similar and related duties as assigned by the Senior Category Manager.
• Uses the Company’s Mission/Vision Statements and Core Values as their guiding principles.
Qualifications:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience in Category Management or a closely related field.
• Prior experience in foodservice or food manufacturing strongly preferred.
• Strong accounting, clear communication and proactive initiative.
• Demonstrated ability in process improvement, advanced reporting and project coordination.
• Skilled in critical thinking, mentoring and problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks and resolve moderately complex issues using sound judgment and analytical thinking.
Days/Hours of Work:
Regular schedule: Monday through Friday, during standard business hours.
May require work beyond regular hours and occasional participation in company functions or events
