Kennedy Jenks is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant in our Portland office to support the general accounting operations and act as a bridge between multiple internal groups. Responsibilities include managing accounts payable/receivable processes, assisting with monthly corporate accounting functions, and consistently applying company accounting standards in various applications.
Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
• Supervise the Accounting Assistants including review of accounts payable and receivable daily/weekly processing. Ensure accuracy and maintain a strong control environment.
• Maintain vendor records and lead year-end 1099 reporting.
• Assist with monthly reconciliations, journal entries, calculation of accruals, and reporting of financial data.
• Assist with corporate functions such as fixed assets and facilities administration.
• Develop and maintain process documentation and reference documents for AP and AR procedures for internal accounting staff and the wider KJ audience.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external clients and vendors.
• Assist the Accounting Manager and Controller with recurring and ad hoc projects as assigned.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other business-related degree from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred.
• Experience in accounts payable/receivable functions
• General accounting knowledge related to general ledger and account reconciliations.
• Demonstrated high level of accuracy and efficiency
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products and project-based accounting software, preferably BST
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and a client-oriented service attitude
• Ability to work independently and/or as a valuable member of the team
• Highly motivated, willingness to learn and innovate, and the desire to grow in your career

Salary range for this position is expected to be between $70,000 and $84,000, and may vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, and geographic location.
