Position Overview
As part of our expanding commitment to safety, we’ve created a new role: Health & Safety Lead within our Operations group. In this role, you’ll be the lead in rolling out new safety programs across multiple provinces — ensuring consistency, training, and hands-on support as they are deployed in the field.
The Health & Safety Lead will work across facilities in Québec, Kirkland Lake (Ontario), and Truro (Nova Scotia), supporting local Health & Safety Coordinators and ensuring compliance, inspections, and continuous improvement. Working closely with the H&S Supervisor, Advisors, and Plant Managers, this role is central to strengthening safety culture across our operations. Regular travel (up to 40%) is required.
The position may be based at one of the following Canadian locations:
• Gatineau, QC
• Saint-Laurent, QC
• Delson, QC
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the rollout of new health & safety programs across assigned facilities; provide training and deployment support.
• Partner with local H&S Coordinators to ensure consistent application of safety standards and procedures.
• Conduct inspections, audits, and safety walkthroughs, coach and mentor staff on findings and corrective actions.
• Deliver onboarding and ongoing training for employees and contractors.
• Writing, critiquing and peer review of H&S programs and processes
• Provide effective training and mentoring of H&S staff
• Co-chair Joint Health & Safety Committees and support safety meetings at multiple sites.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses; track corrective actions and report progress.
• Support emergency preparedness, injury claim management, and return-to-work planning.
• Share best practices across sites to standardize programs and elevate safety performance.
• Monitor legislative changes and ensure site compliance with provincial and federal requirements.
Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in Health & Safety or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of H&S experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• French/English bilingualism written and spoken.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 40%.
• Strong knowledge of occupational health & safety legislation (Québec, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and federal).
• Skilled in inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
• Strong facilitation, training, and coaching skills.
