The Supervisor, Production (2nd Shift) supervises and coordinates activities of hourly employees and lead persons of a production department or section by performing the following duties. The Supervisor, Production (2nd Shift) directly supervises up to 70 employees in the various Heater or Boiler Departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
This position will serve our Water Heater Division, located in Montgomery, AL.
- Responsible for the quantity and quality of work of the assigned group and coordinating work with other sections or departments for the purpose of efficient operation.
- Responsible for ISO procedures, day to day record keeping and charts.
- Responsible for planning the flow of production through the assigned section or department and effecting improved methods and procedures for higher production efficiency.
- Assist in the setting of fair and equitable standards on all operations.
- Responsible for meeting all schedules established for the assigned section or department.
- Interpret instructions, specifications, handbooks, blueprints, engineering drawings, and company policies to hourly employees.
- Has a thorough understanding of how labor, materials, supplies, etc., effect overall budget.
- Responsible for profits of section or department through the control of costs, proper maintenance of tools, machines, and other working equipment within the assigned group.
- Responsible for conducting safety meetings for the purpose of training hourly employees in proper safety habits, adherence to rules of good housekeeping, as well as establishing and maintaining safe working conditions.
- Inspire and maintain high employee morale through good employee-management relations and through knowledge of policies where applicable.
- Associate's Degree with 3 years professional experience or a combination of education and/or equivalent and/or transferrable experience in a manufacturing operations environment may be considered.
- 3 years of demonstrated leadership ability in a working environment.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Training and people development skills.
- Problem solving and process improvement skills.
How To Stand Out
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Heater and/or Boiler experience a plus.
- Basic knowledge of Word and Excel
- Working knowledge with MTMS, CADView, and Microsoft Office Software.
- Experience in supervising 20 plus employees.
- Experience in disciplinary policy administration.
- Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment.
