We are looking for a talented Calibration Technician - Level III to join our team specializing in Quality for our Cummins Inc. facility in Frankfort, KY

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Ensure Equipment Accuracy and Reliability
  • By coordinating internal and external calibrations and managing out-of-tolerance responses, you'll help maintain the precision and trustworthiness of Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE).
  • Drive Quality Through Data-Driven Calibration Cycles
  • Applying statistically optimized calibration intervals will reduce data quality risks and improve equipment availability—boosting operational efficiency.
  • Advance Measurement Capabilities
  • Leading gauge capability studies and developing calibration procedures ensures new tools meet performance standards before deployment.
  • Maintain Compliance and Traceability
  • Your work supports adherence to international standards (ISO 17025, ISO 9001, IATF 16949), ensuring traceability and audit-readiness across all calibration activities.
  • Empower Teams Through Training and Support
  • By training lab personnel, apprentices, and customers, you’ll build technical competency and foster a culture of precision and accountability.
  • Enhance System Integrity and Reporting
  • Managing the M&TE system and reporting calibration results, out-of-tolerance conditions, and data quality metrics ensures transparency and continuous improvement.
  • Support Innovation and Collaboration
  • Participating in inter-laboratory comparisons and uncertainty studies helps benchmark performance and refine measurement techniques.
  • Act as a Technical Resource
  • Your expertise will be a go-to asset for engineers and quality staff, helping solve measurement challenges and improve product quality.

To be successful in this role you will need the following: 

  • Strong Communication Skills
  • You’ll need to deliver clear, multi-mode communication tailored to engineers, lab personnel, and customers—especially when explaining calibration results, uncertainty studies, or training others.
  • Customer-Centric Approach
  • Building trust with internal and external customers is key. You’ll need to understand their needs and deliver calibration solutions that support product quality and compliance.
  • Mastery of Metrology Disciplines
  • Success requires applying dimensional, electrical, mechanical, and physical metrology principles to ensure accurate, traceable, and compliant measurements across diverse equipment.
  • Data Quality and Governance
  • You’ll need to identify and correct flaws in calibration data, ensuring it supports decision-making and meets regulatory and quality standards.
  • Measurement Science Expertise
  • Understanding and quantifying measurement uncertainty is critical. You’ll analyze traceability chains and apply scientific principles to improve calibration accuracy.
  • Inclusive Collaboration
  • Recognizing and valuing diverse perspectives will help you work effectively across teams and contribute to a positive, inclusive lab culture.
  • Laboratory Management Skills
  • You’ll need to manage both technical and business aspects of the lab—ensuring compliance with certifications, maintaining inventory, and coordinating purchases.
  • Relevant Education and Experience
  • A high school diploma or associate degree in a relevant field, plus significant hands-on experience in calibration or metrology, will provide the foundation for success.
  • Education, Licenses, Certifications: 
  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations. 
  • A regionally applicable Certification (e.g. US Department of Labor) or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college program in a relevant field of study. 
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 
  • Experience: 
  • Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
  • Core Responsibilities:
  • Manages the day-to-day activities and planning for all CMM measurements.  
  • Keeps track of timing of measurement activities and drives those activities through closure.
  • Daily 5S activities of CMM and laboratory areas with emphasis on organization of CMM Lab and QA Hold Areas. 
  • Skill Requirements: 
  • Must be able to operate, program, and maintain tabletop CMM.
  • Must be able to be sit down forklift certified with experience driving a forklift in a manufacturing environment.  
  • Skill Preferences: 
  • Ability to operate and program portable Romer Arm for measurements on production floor.  
  • Experience working in lean projects and can effectively present improvements
