Staff Planning Engineer

As a Staff Planning Engineer, you will perform all aspects of planning and economics optimization, as well as identify opportunities for overall refinery optimization.

• Work with the refinery and economics engineering to develop the monthly plan to insure system, refinery, and individual unit optimization.
• Act as a focal point for daily communication between Operations, Engineering, and Planning/scheduling groups within the refinery.
• Perform crude and feedstock evaluations; assists in developing schedules, and balances.
• Perform unit optimization studies and relating optimum operating targets to operations on a routine basis.
• Identify process constraints and identifies opportunities to relieve these constraints.
• Evaluate the economic contribution of Capital Program project proposals.
• Participate in the post production review process to continually improve the accuracy of the monthly plan.
• Provide back-up coverage and support for the other planning roles.
• Work on special projects as required.
• Identify profit improvement opportunities.
• Participate in the development of the budget and strategic plan.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Engineering required.
• 8 years refining industry experience, including five years process engineering experience is required.
• Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required.

Preferred Requirements:

• Previous economics and planning experience in a multi-plant system is preferred.
