Field Supervisor, Community Health Sciences

The Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is the leading unit of its type in Pakistan, recognized regionally and internationally for the relevance, quality, and extent of its work in support of public health and the development of primary health care systems. It comprises of five major operational sections: Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Health Policy & Management, Population & Reproductive Health, Environmental Health & Climate Change, and Non-communicable Diseases & Mental Health.

This is a grant-funded contractual position.

Responsibilities:

You Will Be Responsible To:

• identify, contact, and schedule meetings with select schools in Karachi
• supervise data collectors in schools while conducting surveys
• support in conducting qualitative interviews following study protocols and ethical standards.
• ensure informed consent is obtained and documented for all participants
• maintain accurate and confidential records, including audio recordings, transcripts, translations, and consent forms supervise and guide data collectors involved in data collection
• maintain an organized system for securely storing all data and documentation
• provide weekly updates and summaries of field activities to the project team
• identify, contact, and schedule interviews with school-relevant stakeholders
• conduct preliminary thematic analysis of interview data and share key insights with the project team
• assist in preparing presentations, reports, and summaries based on qualitative findings.

Requirements:

You Should Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Anthropology, or a related field
• training in qualitative research methods is highly desirable
• minimum 2–3 years of experience conducting qualitative field research, including in-depth interviews and stakeholder engagement
• experience in transcription, translation, thematic analysis, and maintaining research documentation
• prior involvement in public health or urban health research projects preferred
• strong qualitative research skills, including interview techniques, note-taking, and coding
• ability to identify and recruit relevant stakeholders for interviews and maintain professional engagement
• skilled in scheduling, organizing field activities, and maintaining ethical research standards
• proficient in maintaining detailed records of consent, transcripts, and translations
• strong written and verbal communication skills in English and local languages (Urdu/Sindhi)
• organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams
• willingness to travel to field sites regularly and adjust to evolving project needs.
