Purpose Of The Role

The Senior Field Engineer provides expert engineering support during the construction phase of projects, ensuring that designs are accurately interpreted, adapted to field conditions, and executed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and sustainability. This role bridges engineering design and field execution, enabling projects to be delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with customer expectations and Worley’s ambition to lead the industry in sustainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field engineering activities during construction, providing technical guidance and oversight to site supervisors, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Interpret, review, and adjust engineering designs to meet site conditions while ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
- Approve completed construction work to ensure alignment with design intent, quality expectations, and safety and sustainability objectives.
- Serve as a technical specialist and consultant to project managers, engineering teams, and site leadership on complex engineering matters.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure integration of design and execution activities.
- Identify and resolve technical challenges, proposing safe, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible solutions.
- Prepare and present technical reports, recommendations, and progress updates to project stakeholders and leadership.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and field staff, ensuring knowledge transfer, adherence to best practices, and consistent technical standards.
- Promote Worley’s values of safety, sustainability, and collaboration in all site activities, supporting the delivery of sustainable change.
Qualifications / Skillset
- University degree in engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent trade qualification with advanced training and extensive experience.
- Significant field experience in engineering support, construction supervision, or project execution within energy, chemicals, or resources projects.
- Strong knowledge of engineering codes, standards, and specifications, with the ability to interpret and adapt designs for complex site conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to make independent engineering decisions considering financial, environmental, social, and organizational impacts.
- Proficiency in construction methodologies, sequencing, and field problem-solving, with experience in workface planning advantageous.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, with the ability to integrate engineering input into broader project objectives.
- Excellent communication skills, including preparation and delivery of technical reports, presentations, and proposals to stakeholders.
- Proven leadership experience, including assigning tasks, providing technical guidance, and mentoring team members.
- Advanced proficiency with field engineering systems, processes, and digital tools, including troubleshooting and supporting others.
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence, with a focus on sustainable project delivery in alignment with Worley’s purpose.
