Senior CAD Technician - Electrical Secondary

Key Responsibilities:

• Create, review, and revise detailed AutoCAD drawings for secondary engineering projects, ensuring compliance with standards and specifications. 
• Develop and modify single-line diagrams, protection and control schemes, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts. 
• Collaborate with project engineers and designers to gather requirements, clarify project specifications, and ensure accurate representation of design intent. 
• Maintain drawing accuracy, quality, and consistency by adhering to organizational and regulatory standards. 
• Update, organize, and manage drawing files, ensuring all documentation is accessible and up-to-date. 
• Identify and communicate potential design issues, proposing solutions to ensure optimal project delivery. 
• Assist in developing and refining AutoCAD workflows to improve efficiency and standardization within the team. 
• Familiarity with electrical equipment and terminology
• Must complete a high-quality self-check of own work with efficiency. Shall follow internal QC processes.
• Perform review of engineering drawings, as per markups made by the Checkers. Verify to ensure drawings modifications are accurately and correctly conducted.
• Reporting progress of work assignment to immediate supervisor. Understands the project schedule and budget requirements.
• Communicate with internal peers and project team and required to answer questions regarding deliverables.
• Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects with the ability to accurately predict the time required to fulfil the individual scopes of work required. 
• Be able to perform Material Take-Offs with CAD tool and excel.
• Actively participate in the design and provide input to the design team throughout the design process.
• Ensuring that quality procedures are implemented and maintained.
• Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to Lead Designer.
• Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.
• Develop expertise and stay up to date of developments in Drafting skills.
• Support the company’s approach to sustainability.
• Be able to communicate in a multi-disciplinary project team.
• Be willing to learn and be polyvalent.
• Identify improvements (where possible) to enhance WSP service to clients. Complete accurate timesheets by set deadline.   

Desired Skills

 Preference will be given to candidates with minimum 10-14 year of experience in primary and secondary drawing using CAD tool.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD software and familiarity with other CAD software for electrical systems (ELCAD, etc.). 
• Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of electrical schematics, control circuits, and protection systems. 
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. 
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to work well within a team-oriented environment. 
• Having a thirst for knowledge, cultural awareness, an open mind, and good English

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical.
