Postdoctoral Project Researcher - Effects of language distance in bilinguals’ speech perception (LADIBIS)

Tasks:

The researcher will work on two fundamental tasks in the project.

1. Definition of a language distance metric: One critical issue the problem faces lies in the definition of language distance. The researcher will analyze language databases (with a specific focus on the languages spoken by the participants selected for the study) with the goal of developing a metric. Such a metric should allow us to assess the impact of different linguistic dimensions on the experimental data.
2. the researcher will support the analysis of the experimental designs, in particular integrating the results in the context of the metric of the language distance described in (a)

The researcher is also expected to contribute in the writing up of the results for conference talks and journal articles.  

Annual remuneration ORD3 : 40.949,88€ gross annual.

Specific Requirements:

• Advanced knowledge in research areas of language processing and language modelling
• Solid experience with R and Python
• A doctoral degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science or similar will be a plus
• Demonstrable experience (publications, conference presentations..) in the field of computational methods of language learning with a particular emphasis on cross-language comparisons
• High level of English

•Native-level knowledge of Spanish or Catalan will be valued
