- Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead end-to-end delivery of enterprise search technology projects across multiple industries.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
- Estimate search-related workstreams including architecture, development, business analysis, and tuning efforts.
- Search-Specific Expertise
- Understand and articulate the roles of Search Architect, Search Developer, and Business Analyst in a search implementation.
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure alignment between business goals and search solution design.
- Client Engagement & Expectation Management
- Set realistic expectations around search capabilities, especially regarding relevancy tuning and iterative improvement.
- Communicate the inherent unknowns in search efforts and guide clients through ambiguity with confidence.
- Educate clients on the importance of analytics in measuring search performance and driving continuous tuning.
- Governance & Change Management
- Establish governance frameworks to ensure search solutions remain effective as business needs evolve.
- Support ongoing search operations, including content lifecycle management, taxonomy updates, and stakeholder alignment.
- Consulting & Strategic Advisory
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them navigate the strategic implications of search technologies.
- Provide thought leadership on search trends, tools, and best practices.
- Establish escalation paths, building relationships at multiple levels to ensure delivery challenges are understood at the right levels of the organization

- 7+ years of project management experience, with at least 3 years focused on search technology (e.g., Elasticsearch, Azure Cognitive Search, SharePoint Search, Coveo, Lucidworks).
- Know the tech: Understand search platforms (Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Coveo, Solr), how they fit into site architecture, and the fundamentals of data indexing, mapping, and pipelines.
- Focus on relevance & performance: Grasp what drives search result relevance, user experience impact, query latency, caching, and optimization strategies.
- Leverage analytics: Interpret web metrics to identify issues and recommend improvements.
- Plan thoroughly: Create a detailed end-to-end plan, including Sprint 0, and clarify scope, deliverables, and architecture (sources, middleware, front end).
- Staff smartly: Ensure strong technical backing with experienced architects and developers; avoid under-staffing or mismatched skills.
- Adapt delivery model: Align PM style and contract type (waterfall vs. agile) with client expectations; separate discovery from execution if needed.
- Collaborate globally: Build a balanced team across regions and work closely with a senior Search Architect.
- Demonstrated ability to work hands-on with the team in planning, estimating, and identifying risks.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or hybrid delivery models.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The new hire salary range displays the minimum and maximum salary targets for this position across all US locations, and the range has not been adjusted for any specific state differentials. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the unique facts and circumstances regarding each candidate. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $150,000 to $170,000.
