Maintenance Support Tech I or II - (2502829) Position Information 

TxDOT's Fort Bend Maintenance Office is looking for a Maintenance Support Tech located in Rosenberg, TX. This administrative position works closely with the Maintenance Section Supervisor to keep the maintenance office running day to day. Duties include assisting with damage claims, phone calls, employee on-boarding, procurement, data entry, inventory, time sheets, and many other important functions. The ideal candidate is a good communicator and responds quickly and professionally via phone or email to members of the public, coworkers, and local government stakeholders. Position Description

 

Maintenance Support Tech I

Performs administrative support-related work in a maintenance office or district headquarters. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Essential Duties:

  • Answers the telephone, evaluates requests, answers questions, routes messages, and/or serves as receptionist or front desk assistant.
  • Conducts monthly spot inventories, verifies inventory findings, reconciles and coordinates with Business Services on adjustments needed.
  • Edits correspondence, reports, forms, and documents for proper format, spelling, grammar, punctuation, typographical errors, syntax, style, sentence structure, content, and clarity.
  • Maintains and updates office files/records/logs and a wide variety of automated systems in support of personnel, finance, budgeting, maintenance, inventory, contracts, purchasing, travel information, and/or permitting activities.
  • Maintains radio contact with field units; responds to assists with emergency situations as required.
  • Monitors and assists with data entry for maintenance contract record keeping.
  • Processes change orders, supplemental agreements, and extra work orders.
  • Receives, sorts, opens, evaluates content and distributes mail.
  • Reviews, prepares and/or negotiates applicable program purchases for services, office materials, supplies, tools and/or equipment and monitors contracts.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Maintenance Support Tech II

Performs administrative support-related work in a maintenance office or district headquarters. Work requires contact with high-level managers, executives, governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.

Essential Duties:

Includes all Essential Duties listed for Maintenance Support Tech I as well as:

  • Composes and prepares correspondence and applicable recurring or special one-time reports and/or confidential and sensitive communications.
  • Maintains equipment service records.
  • Maintains calendars for department personnel to include scheduling meetings, coordinating and making appointments, and travel arrangements.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
 


Maintenance Support Tech I

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.

Experience: None

  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
  • Maintenance Support Tech II

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.

Experience: 1 year in administrative or clerical support, customer service, or related experience.(Experience can be satisfied by full-time or prorated part-time equivalent)

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions:
