As an Area Manager in Business Banking (BB), you’ll lead a team of Senior Business Banking Consultants that work with Community Businesses on the key tools and resources needed in getting access to applied business education, access to opportunity in new ways, and access to capital both within JPMC and externally.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, management, support, direction, and guidance to a team of Senior Business Banking Consultants that are responsible for build relationships and utilize networks and local centers of influence to identify and support community businesses.
  • Support team members as they creatively look for ways to cultivate long-term relationships with new and existing Community Development Financial Institutions, Non-Profits, and other community organizations, leveraging internal resources such as JPMorgan Chase Foundation.
  • Manage performance of individual team members, holding all Senior BB Consultants accountable for achieving business priorities with a focus on building relationships externally and client experience.=
  • Engage with Senior BB Consultants to provide the best in client advice and service and develop the relationship to ensure a seamless client experience throughout Chase.  Build collaborative relationships with partners across Chase, including Branches, Home Lending, Chase Wealth Management, Merchant Services, and Card, to provide our clients the best solutions for all of their financial needs.
  • Ensure teams deliver an outstanding experience to Chase business clients by providing comprehensive and customized business banking solutions tailored to the financial needs and circumstances of their businesses. Use knowledge of business, finance, banking, credit and risk management, while leveraging relationships, to identify, recommend, and promote solutions that best serve the client and ensure the profitability of the portfolio. 
  • Coach and develop team on all aspects of managing a portfolio including relationship management, prospecting engagement, profitability, client experience, and risk management; provide expertise to team on loan structuring, pricing and developing customized solutions; help team identify solutions to complex challenges.\
  • Recruit and maintain a pipeline of diverse viable candidates; select, hire, develop and retain top quality talent by creating an inclusive and respectful team environment.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a business banking relationship management role or related business lending experience; direct in-person contact.
  • Expert knowledge of deposit and cash management products and services.
  • Ability to  analyze reports, metrics and other data to identify trends, issues and opportunities.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships across the organization and influence others to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to balance needs of clients with associated risks and interests of the firm. 
  • Ability to lead proactively through change.
  • Consistent travel is required.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior experience in managing a relationship development team.
  • Expert knowledge of business credit underwriting with commercial credit training.
