Temple University's College of Education is searching for a PT After School Site Coordinator.
Salary Grade: T22
Position Summary:
The Part-Time After-school Site Coordinator will be responsible for leading enrichment programming for elementary students across the grandfamilies and kinship programming housed at CREATE (Center for Reimagining Excellence, Access, and Transformation in Education) at the College of Education and Human Development at Temple University. Programs in this portfolio include Grandma’s Kids and Guiding Generations.
Grandma’s Kids is an after-school program that serves children in kinship care, single parent homes, and at-risk students. The program provides academic and social-emotional enrichment to K-3rd graders in elementary schools within the School District of Philadelphia, specifically in the North Philadelphia section of the city. The goal of Grandma’s Kids program is to promote student growth via homework and academic support and provide a positive social-emotional learning environment for students to increase academic success, provide a safe and nurturing environment, and promote prosocial behavior.
Guiding Generations, aka Project GG, is an intergenerational learning program that supports grandfamilies and kinship caregivers in North Philadelphia. Guiding Generations offers high quality caregiver support, youth enrichment, and intergenerational connection, through educational empowerment services for both the grandparent and their children. The Part-Time Site Coordinator will lead the child-based classroom.
The Part-Time After-school Site Coordinator will work on a team with a Site Assistant as well as other Temple student staff and volunteers, to supervise the daily programming at their site. The Site Coordinator will work to maintain a safe and educational learning environment by coordinating homework tutoring, daily curriculum in the areas of STEM, literacy, social-emotional learning, and indoor play. The Site Assistant is responsible for developing and coordinating daily activities, organizing materials, compiling attendance and other reports, and responding to student behaviors and concerns. The Site Coordinator will report directly to the Assistant Director of Family Based Services.
After-school programming operates following the School District of Philadelphia’s calendar and does not include early dismissal days, school closings, holidays, etc. The position is part-time for approximately 15hrs/wk. The work schedule includes Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 2:30-5:30pm and every other Saturday. Schedule can vary as needed.
Education And Experience:
- High School Diploma, some college credit in education, social work, or related field in the humanities preferred.
- At least 1-year professional work experience leading in an OST environment.
Required Skills And Abilities:
- Commitment to and belief in all families’ ability to succeed and thrive.
- Interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with creative and positive energy for working with families and youth.
- Ability to assess individual’s needs and adjust program strategy when necessary
- Ability to work collaboratively and lead a team of Temple student staff
- Strong leadership as well as written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to foster team unity.
- Ability to travel to school sites and perform required duties
- Facilitation with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Teams, etc. for document creation and participant data tracking; and Canva
