Design and Development: mechanical and electrical system design and analysis problems for robotics structure, mechanisms, power transmissions, electric components, and systems integration while balancing ergonomics, performance, reliability
Supporting parts manufacture: Working with internal/external partners to support part fabrication and complex custom sub assembly
Assembly of robot: Hands on work in the lab constructing sub-assemblies to full system level robot prototypes
Failure analysis: Build subsystem test fixtures, design tests, create test plans, perform tests, measure and analyze data, and refine design assumptions
Collaboration: Work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers to deliver technical solutions
5+ years of experience in Mechanical/Electrical Design Engineering and with experience in Machine Design or Electrical component development
Experience designing electromechanical assemblies (robotics, automotive, aerospace, industrial automation)
Experience with SOLIDWORKS, Siemens NX or similar CAD tools
Experience with prototyping processes and materials
Experience with embedded systems and communication protocols
Experience in tolerance analysis, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
BS degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field
3+ years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering and with experience in Machine Design
Experience in Robotics and consumer electronic product design
Experience in power electronics and battery management programming
Familiarity with traditional mass production manufacturing processes, including injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal
Experience with automation equipment design and custom machine builds
Experience with simulation tools conducting finite element analysis: structural and modal
