About The Role:
The Transitional Housing Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring day-to-day work flow across SPY’s transitional housing sites. They will be responsible for overseeing services and operations of the transitional programs operating out of different sites in Mar Vista, Inglewood, and Westwood. They will supervise a dynamic team of resident coordinators and case managers. They will ensure the sites and programs are in compliance, maintain quality assurance, and outcomes. They will directly supervise SPY’s transitional housing programs Roots to Grow and The Nest Family Housing. Roots to Grow is a transitional housing program operated in partnership with Venice Community Housing. Our two sites can house up to 20 transitional age youth (TAY; ages 18-24). The Nest Family Housing program provides wraparound services and housing to TAY pregnant and parenting families out of 2 sites. The Transitional Housing Supervisor will also be responsible for managing and administering site inspections and program audits, including ensuring the health and safety of individuals onsite. They will build relationships with community agencies to increase access to resources and partner collaboration.
What You’Ll Do:
- Develop policies, procedures, and any necessary program documents needed in alignment with the contract and scope of required services
- Provide high quality trauma informed services for youth and families
- Develop and implement programs specialized for pregnant and parenting youth
- Ensure compliance and quality assurance in accordance with partnership agreements, contracts, and other requirements
- Manage program budgets and adhere to financial guidelines and funding requirements; tracking and monitoring program expenses regularly
- Ensure program outcomes are being achieved in accordance with program timelines
- Oversee daily site operations and program activities
- Support team to organize and facilitate events, workshops, and activities
- Provide trauma informed supervision and culturally responsive leadership to teams
- Manage and monitor data entry and youth files; ensure HMIS and internal data systems are accurate and updated
- Complete required reports as assigned
- Collaborate interdepartmentally and across SPY’s programs
- Attend all assigned internal and external meetings
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of the organization
- Respond to and manage crisis situations as needed
- Rotate on the after-hours crisis phone
- Ensure Children’s development needs are assessed and addressed by coordinating screenings, referrals and supportive services in partnership with Allies for Every Child and other providers
- Ensure delivery of parenting, life skills, and family-centered programming that supports pregnant and parenting youth in achieving stability and fostering healthy parent–child relationships
- Oversee implementation of housing-related supports to ensure residents receive services that promote safety, stability, and long-term housing readiness
- Provide training and coaching to staff on best practices in working with pregnant and parenting youth, trauma-informed care, and housing stabilization
Requirements
What You’Ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field is preferred. Related work or lived experience will be strongly considered in place of or in addition to a Bachelor’s degree.
- 2+ years of experience providing direct services to high-risk transitional age youth is required.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience and managing a team is required.
- Expertise in child development and working with families and parenting youth strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of child and adolescent social, emotional, and cognitive development, trauma informed care, and harm reduction service models
- Work within legal and ethical guidelines
- Flexibility with schedule based on program needs
- Commitment and passion for the mission, vision, values and culture of SPY
- A self-starter who is prepared to drive innovative solutions
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- An ability to work in a fast paced environment that requires effective collaboration
- A valid California driver’s license, auto insurance, and the ability to transport youth
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive
- Ability to install and use workplace apps on your phone, including Zoom, Slack, and Google apps
Work Environment And Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Changes in the environment, such as the office or outdoors.
- Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary- up to 15-20 pounds at times.
Special Conditions:
Mandated Reporting Requirements: The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements: Effective August 9, 2021, the State Health Officer has mandated that all workers, paid or unpaid, in homeless services organizations must provide proof of vaccination. If eligible for a booster shot, proof of booster is also required. If not fully vaccinated, weekly COVID-19 testing is necessary depending on the program. Driver Positions:
Applicants are required to provide a copy of their driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles, along with a copy of their valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Job offers are contingent upon a satisfactory driving record. Examples of an unsatisfactory driving record include:
- Suspended or revoked license
- Three or more moving violations in the past 36 months
- Any violations, including drugs, alcohol, controlled substances, within the past 24 months
- Reckless driving, including hit and runs, within the past 24 months
- At fault accidents, resulting in fatality or serious injury, within the past 5 years
