Cloud Engineer/DB Engineer

Job Type Full-time Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Cloud/Database Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, cloud migration, and database development for web applications, with the ability to design and maintain scalable, high-performance solutions. This role involves IT application maintenance, enhancement, and modernization efforts, deployments, and leading cloud migration initiatives. The engineer will also be responsible for database administration, ETL processes, and ensuring agency compliance with all data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead cloud migration efforts for client applications and databases.
• Create, maintain, and optimize databases for web applications.
• Develop and manage ETL processes and database servers.
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to triage and resolve performance issues.
• Perform day-to-day database maintenance, including backups, restores, security updates, and data governance.
• Enforce standards and best practices for data engineering and database management.
• Troubleshoot operational database issues (e.g., problem queries, connections, performance tuning).
• Provide technical expertise on RDBMS platforms.
• Review, commit, and maintain daily database change scripts.
• Maintain and upgrade internal tools and processes.
• Support Business Intelligence development with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
• Ensure that all data infrastructure is agency-compliant and fault-tolerant.
• Assist development teams with software development tasks as needed.

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or significant equivalent experience).
• Strong experience with MS Azure and Azure cloud migration.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
• Proficiency in MS SQL Server and BI tools (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS).
• Hands-on experience with database administration and maintenance (backups, restores, security patches, access controls).
• Experience with DevOps practices for continuous integration and deployment.
• Proven ability to identify and mitigate bottlenecks, improve queries, and ensure system performance.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for complex operational database issues.  

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft SQL Server certification.
• Knowledge of or experience with Business Analytics tools (Tableau, Power BI).
• Experience with Azure DevOps cloud migration.

• The salary for this position is $100,000 - 130,000 annually
