Senior Policy & Communications Analyst

Description

Vistra is seeking a Senior Policy & Communications Analyst to provide project, policy, and communications support to our team working with the Defense Suicide Prevention Office (DSPO). 

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Analyze, develop, and write policy in support of DoD programs related to suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention in the military
• Apply knowledge of DoD and Federal Government policy development/revision processes. 
• Assess existing policy and develop new or revised policy to address gaps and implement improvements 
• Coordinate with client and other stakeholders to gather and adjudicate input
• Develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity
• Work independently with some guidance.
• Master’s degree and 5+ years of directly related experience (10+ years total work experience)
• Experience with DoD/Federal policy development or analysis
• Experience assessing policy artifacts, conducting literature reviews, and analyzing and synthesizing data to inform policy
• Ability to critically think, examine complex issues, and identify gaps and possible solutions/improvements to problems
• Ability to provide clear verbal and written communications to a variety of stakeholders in alignment with DoD style expectations
• Ability to connect disparate concepts to develop cohesive, comprehensive policies and guidelines
• Ability to obtain a security clearance
• Knowledge of the DoD and the Federal Government’s (e.g., Washington Headquarters Services) policy development process

Requirements

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a military environment or with military personnel
• Experience in a DoD or government public affairs shop creating communication materials for military audiences
• Experience in creating verbal and written communication products for clients, including presentations and information papers
• Ability to design a comprehensive policy evaluation plan
• Knowledge of change management strategies to facilitate policy development/implementation
• Ability to assess and communicate the impact and gaps in suicide prevention and response policy
