Job Description:

The J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida invites applications for a full-time, nine-month tenure-track faculty position.  This position is targeted for the rank of associate professor, however, faculty with experience close to or above this level may be considered.

UF BME is uniquely positioned to bridge the fields of engineering and health sciences, with demonstrated strengths in biomaterials and regenerative medicine, biomechanics and bionics, biomedical imaging, modeling, biomedical data science, molecular and cellular engineering, and neural engineering. Candidates in all biomedical engineering related areas will be considered, with particular interest in neural engineering applicants.

Faculty members will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses within Departmental curricula, initiate and sustain externally sponsored research programs, recruit and supervise graduate students, and engage in service activities for the University and the profession. Applicants must possess a PhD in Biomedical Engineering or a related field. Evidence of dedication to excellence in research and scholarly achievements, teaching, and service is required. The candidate should have a record of successful proposal writing, PhD student mentoring, scholarship, and classroom teaching.

The J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida (https://bme.ufl.edu/) is home to 30 primary and more than 70 affiliated faculty members advancing every area of biomedical engineering, with continued growth expected in the coming years. The department supports over 500 students, including more than 130 pursuing Ph.D. degrees.
