Summary

The Regional Director of Academic Partnerships will develop and grow strategic partnerships with universities and colleges in the Great Lakes region (primarily Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin) to recruit students for Michigan Tech's on-campus and online graduate programs.

This position serves as the primary point of contact for relationships with partner colleges and universities. The role involves building relationships with faculty and administrators to expand institutional partnerships, while engaging directly with prospective students to guide their graduate school decisions and promote Michigan Tech's offerings.

We seek a results-oriented, enthusiastic, and self-motivated professional who can work independently with minimal supervision to achieve recruitment and partnership goals. This position reports to the Vice President of Global Campus and Corporate Partnerships and is a remote position due to the travel requirements.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Plan and conduct recruitment visits to partner institutions
  • Build and expand relationships with college faculty and administrators to secure access for classroom visits, information sessions, recruitment fairs, and marketing initiatives
  • Increase awareness and interest in Michigan Technological University among prospective graduate students
  • Educate prospective students about available graduate fellowships and funding opportunities
  • Collaborate with the Graduate School and Global Campus to develop and implement recruitment strategies that increase applications and enrollment from partner institutions
  • Execute and track ongoing recruitment activities including event planning, personal outreach (phone, text, email) through CRM
  • Facilitate campus visits or virtual engagement opportunities for prospective students
  • Provide assistance and follow up to prospective students in support of the application process to ensure submission
  • Maintain comprehensive, current knowledge of Michigan Tech's programs and services to effectively represent the university to prospective students
  • Participate in staff meetings, retreats, and professional conferences
  • Demonstrate commitment to learning and implementing strategies for ongoing professional and program enhancement
  • Actively engage in university improvement initiatives
  • Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities have been acquired

Required Experience

  • Minimum of five years related work experience in university level admissions, higher education student services, secondary education, sales, or closely related area
  • Experience working independently with limited supervision
  • Experience using personal computer and software packages, including advanced features of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Google suite
  • Experience managing multiple tasks and scheduling under tight timelines and with a high attention to detail
  • Experience building relationships
  • Experience solving problems using logic, reasoning, and critical thinking
  • Experience presenting to targeted audiences

Desirable Education and/or Experience

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience building and expanding partnerships in a recruiting or sales environment
  • Experience working in secondary or higher education in the region
  • Experience with graduate admissions and recruitment practices at universities or colleges
  • Experience recruiting graduate students interested in health, science, technology, engineering, and math (HSTEM) programs, as well as business programs
  • Experience working within Slate CRM

  • Excellent oral/written communication, customer interaction, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly self-motivated and work independently without direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff
  • Proven competence in managing multiple tasks, scheduling, and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to give dynamic and engaging presentations to small and large groups
  • Demonstrated ability, willingness to travel throughout the region - at least 50% weekly travel
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and occasional weekends
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and demonstrated ability to comply with Michigan Tech vehicle-use requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to live or relocate within recruitment region
  • Demonstrated commitment to contributing to a safe work environment

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

  • Ability to analyze data to drive recruitment strategy
  • Demonstrated knowledge of college and university educational systems
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with students, staff, advisors, faculty, and university/college officials
  • Knowledge and promotion of graduate fellowships and financial aid opportunities for prospective students

This is a remote position. A successful candidate should reside in the Great Lakes regional as this position is at least 50% travel in the area.
