Job Summary:

Ensure the agency's information security practices are in alignment with NIST standards. Designs, builds, and maintains the technical security architecture for the agency. Responsible for reviewing security blueprints, frameworks, and reference models, ensuring that all new and existing systems are secure and compliant with federal and state standards.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Defines security requirements, selecting appropriate security controls, and integrating solutions into the agency’s infrastructure.

Identifies, analyzes, and assesses security risks to the agency's information systems.

Develops guidelines for infrastructure solutions and integration methodologies.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
  • Knowledge of:
  • Considerable working knowledge of information security technologies, industry trends and best practices in the areas of risk assessment, compliance and vulnerability management.
  • Considerable knowledge of specific information protection standards (HIPAA, CGIS, IRS, etc. as appropriate).
  • Proficiency with the concepts of ISO27000, NIST 800 and other security standards in the organization

Skill in:
Strong customer service skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Selective Preference(s):

Bachelor’s degree plus 10 or more years of experience in information security systems engineering, architecture and design (or equivalent experience).

Pre-Employment Requirements:

This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
