Remote Work Eligibility Detail:

Work will initially be fully on-site at the University Hospital on campus until sufficiently trained, after which point there is potential for some work to be completed remotely.

Anticipated Hours Per Week:

Minimum: 10 Maximum: 29

Schedule:

Weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Hours are flexible with class schedule, exams and breaks.

Qualifications:

• UW-Madison Student Status (In Progress: Undergraduate or Graduate Degree). Degrees in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Information Science/Technology, or a related major a plus.
• Graduation Date of December 2026 or later
• Interest in data management, clinical research, Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, etc. All training will be provided.
• Preference: Available to provide a minimum 4-semester commitment to the position, with increased availability in the summer months.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including knowing when to seek assistance.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Discretion and confidentiality necessary--position involves work with HIPAA protected information.
  • Basic computer knowledge required. Experience with databases, data management, data entry, and/or utilizing spreadsheets (e.g., Excel) preferred. Experience with REDCap a plus.
  • Experience working with code is required. Familiarity with R, Python, SQL, and/or similar programming languages a plus; all training will be provided by position.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

  • This position provides essential support to the Data Services team within the Data Management & Statistics Core (Core C) of Wisconsin ADRC. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Data entry of various questionnaires, testing scores, chemistry labs, etc. into various databases and verifying data to ensure integrity.
  • Verify Clinical Core study coordinators’ calculations of cognitive test scores from study visits.
  • Scan and file Clinical Core study visit paperwork (e.g., Clinical Research Unit Flowsheets). Add the scanned paperwork to the appropriate database and network drive folder.
  • Distribute data entry discrepancies on questionnaires and cognitive tests to Clinical Core study personnel using the internal database's data resolution features.
  • Data cleaning, verification, and resolving cross-database inconsistencies.
  • Maintain and run programming scripts for data quality checks.
  • Maintaining detailed Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), including coordinating with supervisor regarding any changes or updates to procedures.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to work at computer for extended periods of time.
