An Occupational Safety Specialist with 1–4 years of experience is responsible for carrying out and ensuring occupational health and safety activities in the workplace. The specialist ensures that all practices comply with legislation and general safety rules. Eligible candidates are certified occupational safety specialists, graduates of engineering or architecture faculties, or technical staff authorized by the Ministry.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide recommendations to the employer regarding workplace safety, machinery, equipment, and personal protective equipment.
- Notify the employer in writing about necessary health and safety measures.
- Investigate workplace accidents and occupational diseases, and propose preventive actions.
- Examine incidents that could cause harm, even if no injury occurs, and provide safety recommendations.
- Participate in risk assessments and follow up on recommended measures.
- Monitor the work environment and ensure regular maintenance, inspections, and measurements are carried out.
- Assist in accident, fire, and explosion prevention; participate in emergency plan preparation and training.
- Plan, implement, and monitor occupational health and safety training for employees.
- Prepare annual evaluation reports with the workplace physician regarding safety activities.
- Organize employee safety information activities and ensure implementation.
- Prepare safety instructions and work permit procedures, and monitor their application.
- Cooperate with occupational health and safety committees, employee representatives, and relevant units.
- Stay present in the field during legally required periods.
- Follow any changes in legislation and update workplace practices accordingly.
- Ensure companies comply with quality, environmental, and occupational safety standards.
Powers
- Stop work immediately if a serious, life-threatening risk is identified.
- Conduct investigations and obtain necessary information across all workplace departments.
- Cooperate with relevant institutions as needed.
- Attend professional training, seminars, or panels (up to 5 days/year, counted as working time).
Obligations
- Perform duties without disrupting normal workflow and maintain confidentiality.
- Be responsible for negligence in implementing occupational health and safety services.
- Report to the labor authority if the employer fails to address urgent life-threatening risks.
- Record all findings, recommendations, and activities in an approved logbook.
