Are you a highly motivated and experienced Data Engineer ready to build the next generation of data infrastructure that powers critical business decisions? The Dixon Group is looking for a Data Engineer to join our Data Team in Chestertown, MD! In this role, you will take ownership of identifying, developing, and optimizing robust, scalable ETL/ELT solutions for internal and external data sources. In this high-impact role, you will be crucial in ensuring that our data is clean, reliable, and accessible for advanced analysis and decision-making across the company. You'll move beyond simple maintenance, leveraging T-SQL, Python (Pandas), SSIS, and REST APIs to automate repeatable data processes and continuously enhance performance.

📊 What You'Ll Do:
- Use various tools and methods to automate repeatable ETL processes using a combination of SSIS, T-SQL, Python and REST APIs.
- Use SSMS and T-SQL to develop complex queries and data sources to deliver comprehensive data sets from multiple sources. Write SQL queries and stored procedures to support internal Dixon applications.
- Assist Business Intelligence Engineers with back end query writing. Conduct data verification and validation for team members.
- Performance tune ETL and report processes and queries
- Develop algorithms to find insights from various data analysis techniques to include statistical analysis and Machine Learning processes.
- As a member of the Data Team, the ideal candidate will be able to assist Database Administrators with physical DBA tasks such as backup and restore, query tuning, encryption, auditing and regular maintenance.
- Effectively communicate with technical and non-technical team members.
🎯 What We'Re Looking For:
- A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Data Analytics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Information Systems, Business, or Economics, or a closely related technical field, is a mandatory prerequisite for this job role.
- 5-10 years of experience in a Data Engineer, Data Science or Business Analytics role.
- Experience in manufacturing or distribution industries preferred.
- T-SQL Expertise: Ability to develop and optimize complex T-SQL queries and data sources for multi-source data sets.
- Python Proficiency: Strong experience with Python, especially Pandas and other ETL libraries.
- Familiarity with Machine Learning libraries: Matplotlib, SciKit-Learn, Keras, and TensorFlow.
- Data Tool Mastery: Highly skilled in Tableau/Power BI, SSRS/Crystal Reports, SSMS, Excel, and Access.
- Knowledge of core data concepts: Database design, ETL, and data warehousing.
- Experience with version control (e.g., TFS/Visual Studio).
- Critical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills to navigate complex data challenges.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Adaptability: Highly organized, detailed, and able to adapt quickly to shifting priorities.
- Proactive & Team-Oriented: Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude, professionalism, and a commitment to customer service and collaboration.
- Familiarity with manufacturing and/or distribution processes preferred.
