Position Overview:
The Lead Housekeeper assists the Housekeeping Manager and supervisor in maintaining high-quality cleanliness and laundry services throughout the community. This role ensures staff follow schedules, supervises daily housekeeping and laundry operations, conducts inspections, and fosters a team-oriented environment that upholds a high standard of service.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain housekeeping work orders in Worxhubs
- Makes sure all housekeeping schedules are completed.
- Provides feedback to the Manager on departmental issues, resident/staff concerns, and employees’ performance.
- Performs day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
- Makes sure all setups and take-downs are completed.
- Responds to any calls for housekeeping requests or emergencies.
- Assures assigned work areas are maintained in a safe and clean manner. To train staff on cleaning procedures and safe chemical handling.
- Assures established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained, as needed when performing housekeeping procedures.
- Reports all hazardous conditions or equipment to the Manager.
- Is aware of Presbyterian Homes Corporate Compliance policies including those having to do with confidentiality and security of information, and concern for the well-being of residents and patients. Demonstrates behaviors and completes work in a manner consistent with these policies.
- Adapts to changes in responsibilities in a positive manner, is receptive to new ways of completing tasks, and is flexible in carrying out assignments.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Ability to supervise and motivate a team effectively.
- Must be able to read and write English; bilingual skills are a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness standards.
Education And Experience:
- One to three years of experience in housekeeping and laundry functions.
- Experience in a retirement community or healthcare setting is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Requires standing and walking for long periods.
- Frequent lifting, bending, and handling of cleaning equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Regular contact with residents, staff, and visitors.
- Exposure to chemical hazards if safety precautions are not followed.
- Use of power equipment as part of job responsibilities.
