Job Summary
The Maintenance Mechanical Operator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of building mechanical systems, Building Automation Systems (BAS), and other critical hotel infrastructure and equipment’s. This role requires advanced technical knowledge and hands-on expertise in Appliances, HVAC, mechanical equipment, and control systems to ensure optimal performance and guest comfort. The technician will support daily operations, emergency response, and long-term preventative maintenance under the direction of the Assist Director of Engineering and Director of Engineering.
Role And Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot all major mechanical systems including HVAC system, Motor, pumps, belts,VAV,Air handling units (AHUs).
- Monitor and operate Building Automation Systems (BAS); identify faults and optimize system performance for energy efficiency and comfort.
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and control systems across the facility.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and service on complex equipment and systems to ensure uptime and performance.
- Assist in the commissioning and decommissioning of HVAC and mechanical systems as required.
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance and repairs in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and basic carpentry.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair guestroom mechanical components, public areas, and back-of-house systems.
- Conduct equipment and meter readings; maintain accurate logs and documentation.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on kitchen, laundry, and pool equipment as needed.
- Excellent working knowledge and skill in using and handling all hand and power tools in a safe manner.
- Ensure all maintenance tasks comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Respond quickly and effectively to building-related emergencies, such as power outages, system failures, water leaks, or fire alarms.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment; adhere to all company safety protocols and participate actively in health and safety programs.
- Support the setup of hotel equipment and furniture as required for events or renovations.
- Collaborate with external contractors or vendors during system repairs or upgrades as necessary.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Employee will be required to do heavy lifting and climbing of ladders/stairs, work into confined spaces.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Preferred Qualification: Technical, Trade or Vocational School Degree.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years’ experience working as a technician in a Hotel or related industry; preferably within a luxury environment.
- Qualified candidates must possess in-depth building operations and maintenance experience.
- Good working knowledge in Microsoft office.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
- Pre-opening experience is an asset.
