As a Part-Time Accounting Specialist, you will play a key role in managing day-to-day financial tasks, including general accounting, and accounts payable/receivable under three of our Mindgruve Ventures accounts. The ideal candidate has solid experience in small business accounting, is highly organized, and can work independently in a remote environment for a total of 20-25 hours per week.
What You'Ll Do Here:
- Review and verify invoices for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure proper coding of invoices to appropriate accounts and cost centers
- Enter invoices into the accounting system
- Maintain and update vendor records, including contact information and payment terms
- Communicate with vendors regarding invoice discrepancies, payment status, and other inquiries
- Creates reports regarding the current status of vendor accounts
- Relays changes of information and billing adjustments to appropriate departments as applicable
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements
- Maintain and organize financial records and documentation
- Assist in preparing monthly financial reports for leadership
- Support budgeting and forecasting efforts as needed
- Coordinate with external CPAs or auditors when necessary
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations
We Need A Person With:
- College Degree in Business, Accounting or related field preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Ability to manage multiple sets of books for different business entities
- 3+ years of related accounts payable and general accounting experience
- Highly organized, resourceful, detail-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written
- Must be able to work independently and act proactively on assigned tasks
- Self-starter with excellent time management and attention to detail
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices
- 3+ years of experience with an accounting software program(s)
- Experience with Workamjig and/or QuickBooks Desktop highly desired
- Ability to operate office equipment, such as computers, 10-key, and copier
- Well-versed in Microsoft and Mac applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Understanding of video meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams) desired
Compensation:
- $26 - $29 per hour
- Part-Time employees are ineligible for benefits
Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Our headquarters is based in San Diego, California, with additional offices in Covington, Kentucky, Denver, Colorado, Nashville, Tennessee and Charleston, South Carolina. We're seeking local candidates (or those open to relocation) who are able to work collaboratively with us in one of our office's; however, based on business needs and unique job functions, some roles may be eligible for remote work. (Bonus points if you’re bilingual in Spanish and/or Portuguese.)
