The Field Service Technician will be considered the technical expert and must be able to answer all technical questions regarding the operation and maintenance of the IBD-SS family of systems. The Field Service Technician will provide support to all locations on a rotational basis. Extensive travel will be required; up to 100% to include Afghanistan, Iraq, and other international destinations.

The Field Service Technician is responsible for the testing, repair, and determining disposition of electronic systems and components. Conducts Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) operations, enforces internal quality control standards, and performs evaluation and functional testing of system assets prior to shipping, and maintains records of component status and all work performed. Implement processes and procedures to effectively test and configure products, systems, and components to ensure the complete system is fully mission capable (FMC) prior to shipment to the customer and will provide onsite support to maintain and perform any repairs that arise.

The Field Service Technician will rely on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish a variety of tasks to include utilizing electrical test equipment, (i.e., digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes) to meet program goals.

Responsibilities

The Maintenance section is responsible for ensuring that all major mechanical and electronic assemblies are fully operational before entering the shipping process. The Field Service Technician is responsible for following the following activities and processes:

  • Have the ability to perform routine system maintenance and computer system administrative functions.
  • Have knowledge of, and be capable of using, operating systems and database management systems.
  • Perform analysis of system operations.
  • Have experience in fault detection, isolation, and correction of computer systems and individual peripheral devices.
  • Evaluate and document field operational capability and report results to the customer and program.
  • Be available for assignments to OCONUS and/or Middle East locations for long-term deployments.
  • Train customer personnel on the use and support of the equipment including all IBD-SS ground support equipment and communications systems.
  • Troubleshoots fiber optic cabling and electrical wiring.

Special Work Circumstances:

  • Extensive travel will be required; up to 100% to include Afghanistan, Iraq, and other international destinations.
  • Must be able to deploy to remote international locations with little notification.
  • Must be willing and able to deploy to environments that may include harsh living conditions (extreme heat and cold, deployed living conditions, etc.) and/or hostile work environment.
  • Must be able to live and work in the Middle East desert with temperatures above 120 degrees F.

Security Clearance Requirement:

  • Existing Secret Clearance. A Secret clearance that has been inactive less than 24 months, and can be quickly reactivated, may also be acceptable.
  • Employment is contingent upon meeting all medical requirements for overseas assignments, including comprehensive post-offer medical examination. 
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-qualification test on networking. Continued employment is contingent on passing subsequent government administered exams during training.  

Required Skills:

  • Experience interacting with vendors and government customers.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, wiring and block diagrams.
  • Experience troubleshooting and replacing Line Replaceable Units (LRU).
  • Able to test electronic system wiring and fiber optics cabling utilizing wiring diagrams and associated drawings.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to multitask, prioritize work, and be adaptive to change.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Experience with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to withstand physical demands of an austere environment: seasonal hot/cold temperatures, bending, squatting, lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds using proper lifting techniques, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb platforms.
  • Ability to work outdoors in Middle East desert conditions.
  • Able to work 12-hour days and be on call 24/7 while deployed.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with IBD-SS suite of systems.
  • Experience with the Combined Operations Logistics Tracking System (COLTS) Database.
  • Knowledge of PSS-G Tower system hardware and components.
  • Experience installing and maintaining PSS-G Tower systems.
  • Experience with EO/IR camera operation.
  • Experience with FLIR Star Safire sensors.
  • Understanding of sensor or radar system operations and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with operating 2K, 3K and 5K Tactical Quiet Generators (TQG).
  • Experience operating software-based systems utilizing Graphic User Interfaces (GUI).
  • Import/Export (EXIM) compliance experience.
  • Graduate of US military sensor or radar technical school.
  • Knowledge of military protocol.
  • Past military experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a combat environment a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
