We are seeking a skilled Network Security Engineer to support our customer's network engineering team with firewall operations, primarily focused on Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama. The contractor will be responsible for implementing firewall rule requests, retiring unused objects due to server decommissions, and ensuring compliance with security policies.
The opportunity will be required to be 50-75% onsite in the Phoenix, AZ, area.

What You'Ll Do:
- Implement and validate firewall rule requests in Palo Alto firewalls via Panorama.
- Retire firewall objects and policies associated with decommissioned servers.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure rule accuracy and alignment with business needs.
- Maintain documentation of changes and configurations.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving firewall-related issues.
- Follow change management procedures and security standards.
What You Have:
Required:
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status
- Proven experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Panorama.
- Basic understanding of network concepts and principles (e.g., TCP/IP, routing, switching, subnets).
- Strong understanding of firewall rule creation, NAT policies, and security zones.
- Familiarity with network protocols and IP addressing.
- Experience with change control processes and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Preferred:
- Palo Alto Networks certifications (e.g., PCNSA, PCNSE).
- Experience with server lifecycle management and object cleanup.
- Knowledge of network segmentation and zero trust principles.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
